My new hobby, based on the responses I read from ChatGPT, is to get a "likely written by AI" rating from these classifiers. "However, this is just one example of a humorous summary and it is important to note that..." an

That might be your preferred way of learning. As for myself, I can't take someone's POV without understanding. And I can't understand without exposing my current model to be shaped by someone's counterarguments. For me t

One of the first things I check with every jvm packaging/deployment tool I investigate: does it preserve classpath ordering. Some offenders think -jar * is enough.

I think "Drop the dependency on gzip" for something like Git trumps a bit more exposure (which can be mitigated with thorough reviews).

I though I've laid it out: you don't have to be the perfect parent all the time, so please don't suffer because you cannot always adhere to your own quality standard ("no cake at 3am"). I say this because many do an

I like this thread :D But be good to yourself too. You don't have to be the perfect parent all the time, as long as you are nice to your kid(s) most of the time.

I understand where you're coming from and just want to add as a thought, that we, as readers and third party, are also part of this public conversation. And it might be of value that somebody puts in the energy to pointing out a bias f

This is just a crazy amount of work, given the alternative is updating your whatever lock file and let the transitive dependency resolution of your language of choice do the rest. Note that I very much like proper clean .debs as an end user

For every dependency that's missing from the upstream distribution in the exact version we need, we'd need to package that appropriately. We have nothing to gain here, nobody pays for that.
