It is really amazing in how many ways C/C++ made the wrong default/implicit choices, in retrospect. Hindsight's 20/20, of course. But still.

"Open Source" is a pretty clear case of lying by omission. You open sourced the frontend. Without a clear license. That's not an "open-source cloud drive"

Sigh. It was a great app. Switching to the freemium resource extraction model makes it utterly unattractive. (If I wanted to go with the whole "nice app you got, shame if something happened to it" model, Adobe's got that cove

Yup, but the IPO will still have happened in CA, and there's going to be a tax windfall from that. It's about a moment in time, not an "in perpetuity" agreement.

Except here it's made abundantly clear, up front, who has responsibility. There's no pretense that it's fully self driving. And the engineer has the power to modify every bit of that decision. Part of being a mature engineer

"this entire argument from the left on crime is based upon a false reading of the stats" -> Not sure whom you're debating here. I'm aware of the stats, and don't think I've made points that disagree with you

As somebody avowedly on the left-hand side of the political spectrum - yep. I know the crime stats. I also have seen friends of mine get robbed 3 times in 4 years, once with them in the house. (LA, not Oakland. And in the nice suburbs.) And

The flipside is that QGIS and overpass are so complicated that only with LLM assistance they're truly usable. (Applies more to QGIS than to overpass, though both could stand to improve a lot in terms of usability)

The major labs are hiring experts. They carefully build & curate synthetic data. The market for labelled non-synthetic data is currently ~$3B/year. The idea that LLMs are just trained on a pile of raw Internet is severely outdated.

It's trivial in the sense that a lot of the work isn't high cognitive load. But... that's exactly the point of LLMs. It takes the noise away so you can focus on high-impact outcomes. Yes, the core of that pull requests is an
