I wish I had a Mac. This is actually our main drawbacks - our company needs a somewhat unified system, which is why I'm asking for suggestions. Sadly, none of us have Macs, so while I'd love to use Coda (Seriously, I love that program. Usin

Vim is, sadly, wholly inadequate for my needs. It kicks ass for speed, and I didn't know about the code completion, so that's a plus. But for integration with our current systems, it's just not enough. Version control is much more difficult

Don't know what kinds of blogs you are looking for, but my friends over at www.superprofundo.com write some pretty interesting stuff.

Who cares what we think? You've got an idea? Do it. Code it. Hack it. Whatever. With something quick like this, what the worst that could happen? You waste a few hours learning a bit more about coding? Just DO IT.

Great tutorial, but I wish he'd given some context for these. The even/odd is a well-known one, but propagation of rightmost 1-bit? I have no idea what that, or most of these, are used for.

Sure, maybe the plug is a bit cheesy. But these guys are really great. I met Mike from Hostlee at the 'A Better World by Design' conference up in Providence. He's a really cool guy, and definitely believes in living what you dream. I kinda

There's the HackNY hackathon at least: http://hackny.org/a/ That's happening tomorrow, though, so it's a bit short notice.

I'm not going to address this point-by-point, because very little of it has to do with ease-of-use for either the consumer or the developer. I'll give you this - writing for iPhone is certainly easier in the sense that you only have to wr

And why is that? What facts directly support that opinion? I think that if that was the case, there wouldn't be an immediate discussion following Jobs' comment on the same thing. If anything, I think the fact that these remarks have made it

Why is it that everyone thinks that Android is "hard"? I think a point that most people are missing is that Android isn't actually hard at all. With the newer devices, we are seeing better and better interfaces. The reason many people think

Doomed in what way, exactly? Financially? Or doomed in that the software will never gain a foothold in the current Mac/PC market? After quite a few searches to confirm, Linux adoption rates are RISING, not falling. The vast majority of supe

Wow. I hadn't thought about that as much. True, developing for over two hundred different handsets is going to be tough - but I see it as the same as the old Mac v. PC debate. The different software and hardware configurations of PC users i

"The user is left to figure it all out." Last I checked, manufacturers provide fairly adequate quick-start guides with any android phones. Either way, I don't get his point on this and fragmentation. Linux is ridiculously fragmented - doesn

Definitely tell them the truth. But if you're interested in having them help you out, talk with them and draw out a contract. You can guarantee control of the project, especially if you use some sort of VCS. But make sure you tell them the

Cool article. I wonder if he's considered the growth of the 'target' attribute itself. If implemented according the spec, there will be many cases where using this catch-all attribute won't be feasible.

Sounds like a cool idea, though it's not the first time I've heard something like this proposed. I was wondering how you'd decide if something was 'Unsearchable'? It seems to me that most of the problems you'd find nowadays are being mentio
