https://web.stanford.edu/~ouster/cgi-bin/papers/rifl.pdf This paper says that exactly once execution of an RPC is possible. I have no idea if grpc does this or not.

Imo it was mainly poor language / framework support for asynchronicity. That's not really an issue anymore.

Personally I'd prefer a promise based api. eg. stub.QueryBooks(qbr).then(...) A benefit of grpc coming to the web means someone will inevitably build a tool to parse a .proto file and generate a ui to test your microservices during dev

Facts are simply assertions that have met some burden of proof. Determining that threshold is a subjective exercise, not an objective one. I know you want an algorithm to do this, but there is no sentient algorithm smart enough to do this.

It's the school / union's fault. The allegation was that it happened in the classroom. Nowadays, there is no reason to not have cameras in all the classrooms. Sensor tech could be used to figure out how to do education better

I wonder why they don't prioritize a Drobo like beyondraid type feature. I've been waiting years to buy a FreeNAS device that does that.

There are ways to make AI decisions explainable. There just aren't that many people working on it. Darpa advertised a grant last year for this, but afaik it's the only group I've heard of tackling that problem space. As the f

The entire way the U.S. military does procurement is wrong. It's based on politics, not merit. If there was one area of government Silicon Valley should disrupt it's this. Boeing / Lockheed / etc have no special insight
