Now I want this comparison for Opus. It doesn't do that whole psychoacoustics thing, does it? But it also somehow manages to ~double the compression ratio compared to MP3 without any noticeable difference in the sound quality.

Simple distorted-characters captchas still do a good job of catching unsophisticated bots, which is most of them. They work even better when combined with hidden form fields because these bots don't support CSS. Targeted attacks though

Reminds me of how some manufacturers tried to combine a small SSD with a large HDD the same way in the early 2010s.

Mastodon has a big honkin' "Join mastodon.social" button both on joinmastodon.org and in the mobile apps to solve this exact problem.

EOL or no, there are many people who still use older OSes because they own older computers, can't afford an upgrade or don't want one (it works just fine!), and can't be bothered with figuring out running a newer OS on offici

If you're building macOS apps, it's common to want to test them on all system versions you support. Especially so considering Apple's attitude towards backwards compatibility.

I have a feeling that the Linux developer community in general just constantly prioritizes the wrong things. They love to boast about technical achievements instead of doing something that would actually enable real-world regular-usage scen

The readme also doesn't specify how to set up the development environment. I'd like to make a PR adding support for the two Russian streaming services most people here use, VKontakte and Yandex Music, and the code looks simple eno

Material came out in mid 2014. I know that for sure because I was at the Google I/O where they presented it together with Android L/5. iOS 7 was released in 2013.

I ended up doing kinda the same. Our API already had a method to retrieve the current unixtime on the server, which I used, together with the user-set timezone, to figure out the UTC offset that the user actually meant to set by adjusting

Another fun fact about timezones: if the government abolishes DST one year, and then moves some timezones an hour the next year, it creates a wild mess. Especially when you're building an Android app. Especially when it's the earl
