Ah so the Switch 2 dock has an extra fan? I didn't know that. Still, what happens if you connect a Switch 2 to a 1080p display? I assume it would render at 1080p, because rendering at 4K and downscaling for output would be too wasteful

Why reject switch 1 accessories though? Sure the video resolution will have to be limited to 1080p, but that's kinda expected and I'm sure switch 2 can do that anyway

This is due to different design goals. Bluesky's architecture was pretty much dictated by the premise that anyone needs to be able to see any post on the entire system, regardless of whether they have any connections with the author. T

It very much depends on how the block is implemented technically. I can only talk about Russia where I'm from — we have quite a lot of success with DPI bypass tools like GoodbyeDPI. If that fails, use VPN protocols specifically desig

In my opinion both Windows and Linux are much worse than even modern macOS, so I'm going to keep using it for the foreseeable future, but being rather conservative with installing updates. On hardware, my M1 Max MacBook Pro is the best

Your instance is in your username. The full username is "@grishka@mastodon.social". You use WebFinger ( https://mastodon.social/.well-known/webfinger?resource=acct:... ) to convert that to the ActivityPub act

I stayed on Mavericks until late 2016, by which time I had to update to then-current system because I got a new job and needed latest Xcode to compile the iOS app. Surprisingly, I didn't hate the flatter design as much as I anticipated

One nitpick about ActivityPub actor identity — the username doesn't have to be part of your ID (the URL that points to the JSON object representing your actor). It is in Mastodon, but some other software (Smithereen that I work on,

Internet censorship in Russia started around 10 years ago under the pretense of "protecting children". The initial law was kinda funny and relatively innocent: it banned information about drugs and suicide. Because if this informa

While this is partially true, digital signage displays are also designed to run 24/7, which also makes them more expensive than regular TVs.

According to my own limited experience, yes, it is getting worse. Airlines cut their costs hard during covid, but never undid most of those changes after covid was over. So now you have non-low-cost airlines that charge extra for luggage,

Yes, people want addictions. So give them addictions. Just don't sacrifice actual social media for that. Ideally, in my view of the world anyway, there would be separate commercial addiction-focused platforms like TikTok, and separate
