Another one for your list: Nylas Mail. We straight up would have not shipped it without Electron and the CPU it uses to sync is on-par with apps like Apple Mail & Thunderbird.

At Nylas we made a huge bet on Electron-- our desktop app Nylas Mail actually started as a fork of Atom Shell before the project was rebranded to "Electron." To be honest, we would have never built this app without Electron. It al

We have a prototype at Nylas which is pretty awesome, but haven't had the time to really finish it. (Focus is important!) Calendar apps are deceptively hard. Very tricky UI problems alongside super complicated data transformations you

If you're looking for an alternative open source email platform, check out Nylas Mail. It's built in React+ES6 with a rich plugin system. https://github.com/nylas/nylas-mail (I work at Nylas.)

The comparison to Wave is actually kind of funny here, since Dropbox Paper came from the acquisition of Hackpad, which was a fork of Etherpad, which was a startup that Google acquired to integrate with Google Wave. It's a small world.

We're using it really successfully to power the entire data layer of Nylas Mail. I figure if it's good enough for an email app (with gigabytes of text, >300k objects) then it should work for other apps too!

I'm pretty sure we're not going to send any capsule to repair the JWSP. It's going to be at L2 which is 1 million miles away from Earth, or about 3x furthest than mankind has ever traveled. It would take weeks to get there.

Hey Scott-- how much of that usage was active memory vs cached/swapped? Do you also run apps like Slack or Google Chrome? How does their memory usage compare? Was this during initial sync (very resource intensive) or at a steady state?
