Interesting how java is the only language included in the title, but the slides have the opinion that C#, Ruby and Python all suck as well. Seems like a cheap way to get upvotes.

Is it a workaround that your CPU doesn't run C++ code directly and instead runs assembly, and a compiler is needed to convert C++ to assembly? The answer is obviously no, so how are 1) and 2) any different? I think they are great things -

What about creating a career path that doesn't involve moving people into management? One that involves more prestigious titles (e.g.: sun had a 'sun fellow' title), and significant salary growth (20% here and there isn't significant, imho

GWT's perfect caching is pretty similar to this - Use the MD5 of the file contents as the filename, and send out 'cache forever' headers with the file. Thus, if the file hasn't changed, the browser doesn't even need to make a HTTP request
