Orchestra is building a impressive platform indeed (from a tech standpoint). But as a developer it's a black cloud day. Been hoping PHP to be fading away in favor for syntax-wise less sucky languages (there are many superior alternatives -

It has very much. I played with LEGO my entire childhood, and I can see it becoming useful for building things in a creative way - but without having to think much becuase I think it's so obvious how it can be solved. With this in mind it's

Example: Do you paint and/or build because you feel like it, or because it pays your bills? I doubt a child got bills to pay, so why do they paint and/or build LEGO? Code can be art and play too.

haha, yes that too. I was refering to secure payments where the host site can affect he layout of payments but not the secret details. Yes you can do that if being creative. :)

Yes in fact the iframe is the only way of doing it securely with the current web specs. ...and it can in fact be done almost completely seamless for the end user, with lil bit of hacking.

At Merchii we have solved this in similar fashion, but we actually don't need to care if the host site is secure or not - we take care of that too (completely secure).

All I know is that without Google, IRC and sites like Stackoverflow made me not quit development. Reminding myself of those obscure bugs in major 3rd party libraries that was found in the past that I would never have solved alone. People

We got a similar approach, but we focused on the pitch for customer when we meet them and inject our widgets in 3rd party sites in front of their eyes using a bookmarklet I hacked together which makes the widgets editable within the page. N

Ouch. I start to think of Microsoft and Apple. :( So far Google been outpacing my expectations on driving web technologies forward - all this for later go back to the "native client" approach Microsoft had in late 90s (thy stopp believing i

Evolutionary - no fine is not enough. If you can choose between bad, fine, great - you pick great unless it's takes too much resources (time/currency/etc). In this case the constraint are "open source workload" which is quite massive nowada

That was not hate, that was opinion. Maybe it depends on your own mental state (bad day) when you read that, read it again some other day. If you get the same feeling, then I would say we bring our opinions in different ways. Don't pain me

Yep, I've learned a lot by failing - I don't regret those failures (the paradox), I think I've ended up in a better position now as a cause of those failures too. Trial-n-error is the best way to learn as they say. I mentioned previous fail

Makes sense, though I'll stick to RVM until I change my mind - RVM floats my boat, haven't had any serios issues and I live in the shell. Bad short-term (community confusion), good long-term (evolution of initial innovation). I'm very neutr

Still, Chrome eats less memory than FF with 1-2 extensions (Firebug - very often disabled, and a FB addon). How can you argue against that? Just accept the fact that FF got issues.

Well, even with that it won't be comparable to Chrome I'm afraid. Firefox became very heavy suring the years. And no I don't have a lot of add-ons; I have 2 addons in FF and 15 addons in Chrome and yet Chrome processes suck much less memory

I love this, it's like SaaS for CI. I'm excited about how awesome this would be for private repos. Setting up CI sucks in general measures, so many avoid it. I heard private repos is in the roadmap - though they will focus on platform stabi

That's what you see on the surface; what you don't see is the family that owns more than half of the world's wealth: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rothschild_family . They basically run everything in the background for a pair of centuries.

Yet Ruby object model don't work the same way as you would suspect - at least in compare to many other languages. You might get surprised. To see what I mean: http://scotland-on-rails.s3.amazonaws.com/2A04_DaveThomas-SO...

Interesting article on a topic I've discussed many times with fellow Norwegians. Most points are valid, but the one with regards to "the Jante law" is hardly an argument. The Jante law is as central - or even more central - in Sweden, yet t

I see your vision, but first of all I really think that this should be done in coorporation with the ruby-lang.org. Also, you need a designer; please don't take it personally, but the design looks like 30 min in Photoshop. Sorry for being h

No, there's no such thing as "serious jail time" in Sweden. You could get away with a few years if you murder someone here. This kind of thing would maximum lead to a few months in jail if even that - even if repeated.

With git you only really need to care about 5-6 commands for basic usage. For more advanced stuff you could also use a GUI; for mac there are plenty of tools that are really polished.
