The "only focus on one thing" advice you give is our strategy at GridSpy ( http://gridspy.co.nz ) too. We can monitor solar systems, water levels, fuel levels, solar hot water performance, temperature, humidity, battery levels and yes AC po

I'm still in my fulltime job (see http://blog.gridspy.co.nz/2010/02/part-time-entrepreneur.htm... ) but I can see the benefit of having the "sink or swim" pressure. Everyone close to me, including my co-founder, keeps telling me to stay fu

Your clean analysis mirrors my own choice to use virtual and dedicated servers. I think that it would be sensible for a VC founded startup to eliminate risk and go for scale on day one with an internal infrastructure team + self managed, co

Those bubbles would have been a nightmare if they didn't relate to each other in such a clean way They have some great grouping features - snapping, colouring, pushing, connections with lines, naming groups.

I guess that is why it is an eclipse plugin. Pity it doesn't interoperate with all eclipse-compatible languages (just yet). I'd love to use it to work with Python.

Hopefully this will make working on the Gridspy project easier. Typically I have 3 IDEs open - my Firmware IDE, Eclipse + Visual Studio. In Eclipse I am editing a twisted project (usually 3 different files at once but only 2 methods from ea

It is very likely that the Rocky script evolved a great deal after production started. Sounds more like Stallone is advocating Minimum Viable Product.

The salesperson did say that there was only a single client... “But we don’t need to change it for everyone,” Craig jumped in, “just one client. Surely, you can do that!”

That is good, since many of the startups here need paying customers -> Those customers would have to have money to spend. Having a forum of startup friendly hackers to publicise to is extremely useful.

Long pipelines cause issues when branches get mis-predicted. The half processed instructions have to be thrown away. What you want is a CPU with a short pipeline, a fast clock rate and if possible instruction reordering and multiple dispatc

I love developing software. To me achievement is a happy customer. Who cares if all memory of me is erased in 300 years. Hopefully I will have helped to advance some technology in that time.

You should also remember the choices made in the past and offer them with one-click actions. I cycle every morning and night and I often eat the same things over the course of each fortnight.
