Windows is the most used operating system, so to call it a Ghetto is wrong by definition, IMHO. In my experience, Visual Studio 2008 with .NET libraries and MSDN is very good development platform.

I agree with you. During my career I worked for 3 companies and technically my job was always the same - software developer, including both design and implementation. But the overall situation was different because every company has differe

In our company, the rule is that we are not allowed to upgrade core MS software ourselves (XP, Office, IE, service packs etc.) This is done by the security department and rolled out automatically to workstations. Other than that, I can inst

Things got improved recently...I tend to like the new Visual Studio 2008 + .NET + C# combo. Despite the numerous critique I partially agree with, Microsoft showed the continuous commitment to improve their software, and I personally still t

I think the issue is that AFAIK it is not that easy to make $2000/y with selling stock photography. Actually, it is a hard, persistent work. So he was propably just lucky, so they picked him up to advertise them.

Hi Norman, I had the similar idea as well - what I most like to program are standalone windows applications. I think it is still possible to get rich on that space, but maybe harder as it was before, since there is a global trend of using s

I don't consider this a big problem yet, the quality of frontpage submissions is still pretty good. Yes, there were a few political/financial entries recently, but still they weren't completely off-topic IMHO, given the current state of the

I must say Richard lost my respect due to his extreme black&white opinions. What I don't get is his irrational fear of proprietary software. For example, I work for a very large (proprietary) software product for healthcare industry. Th
