I have a fan shim on mine, and it keeps it well within limits. The shim is controlled by the on die temperature, so it runs slowly most of the time, but if you run the CPU/GPU hard for any length of time, the fan really cranks up. You

I reread Moby Dick as an adult within the last couple years. Found it far more interesting than I did when I was young. The book plays on narration in far more complex ways than I remembered. Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five. Seriou

You may be able to slow aging, but you are still going to deal with wear and tear. Until they actually find a way to promote well regulated regrowth of tissue, that is going to be a problem. I am young for my age, having been born into a fa

In the late 90s, I worked with a small team, about four of us, and ported a DSL soft modem from Windows NT running on a Pentium II running at 450Mhz to VxWorks running on an ARM SA110 running at 120 Mhz. The original software and hardware t

The problem is, these leaky cache issues come from 'performant' hardware. It is the pipeline optimization that leads to the side channel. There are cache architectures (such as pseudo random replacement) that are much more difficu

I have a mint account. Have not used it in three years. It kept failing to sync to my accounts and I got sick of correcting it all the time. It ended up being a huge burden compared to the value added.
