I have been using version control of one flavor or another since I started down this career path in the mid 1980s. My home projects went from SCCS to CVS to SVN to GIT over the years. But there was always some form of version control, even

In thirty five years, I have encountered three zealots that became worse over time, because their zealotry was seen by upper management as dedication and resolve, so they were rewarded. As we all know in engineering, positive feedback is ba

I didn't really learn "pat yourself first" until I was thirty. That set me back a few years, which took time to recover. When I mentor young people right out of college, the first thing I explain to them is that very principl

It is funny when I think of the hundreds of thousands of lines of code I have shipped in my long career (all embedded) and how little of it ever had to handle a string. I agree, C is a really poor choice for string or other human readable c

It's not like that is hard to fix, and modern compilers will flag uninitialized variables. Use your brain and use your tools. C is not really that hard for a large number of problem sets.
