I'm sure that a certain subset of people do buy knives as weapons, but I'd be surprised if it was even on the radar of total knife ownership reasons. Most buy knives for display or utility (dive, general utility, bolo/machete, etc.). Every

I can't speak specifically for the group here, but the vast majority of US taxpayers by a large margin _are_ compensated via W-2 or 1099. Isn't that who it should be optimized for, rather than outliers or exceptions?

The UK also has 1/5 the US' population - what does all this mean?

I haven't looked closely at it, but if Timatic are held liable for the accuracy and ultimately responsible (assuming litigation), it might be justified.

Additionally, doesn't it rely on the truthfulness of the SMTP server? That's not a good assumption - it's common to accept anything and null-routes bad addresses.

This brings to mind on of my common responses: if it's not important enough to back up - it's not important! It may be expensive, either in complexity, costs of storage/services, etc, but it's a necessity. I'm curious about many of the comm

You're 100% correct if that is the meaning. But, that isn't "working" full time (unless it was a pre-agreed arrangement). That shouldn't be allowed, but poor management will not catch/act on it. However, I was specifically replying to the c

You are absolutely right. It's more work on management to have productive remote employees (and to do it right). But, there are reliable ways of understanding remote employee productivity - though, they aren't always obvious.

Kids can be a distraction, for sure. Just like coworkers or officemates who frequently disrupt others (even if not directly, such as the cube next to someone trying to concentrate). When at home, if I feel the a distraction looming, it's

Just a heads up, in your 'Gittip is Hiring' post, the 'README' link goes to the old repo and the 'new issue' link 404s.

That's weird and, well, not my experience. I've never owned a smartphone and usually use basic candybar or flip phones, such as this cheap $20 Nokia sitting next to me. I can't say that reason sounds likely. (And I have a whole drawer full

I don't know, maybe this isn't someone's hobby website. If I had to make a change like that where we work, it'd have to go through a few layers of QA testing/approval before going live. It might actually take a little effort and time. We

Can you call up your (father's?) provider and report the phone stolen? Aren't those IMEI's blacklisted? If so, that might make it difficult for the buyer to unload. I guess you could also threaten to do that to said buyer, first, to see if
