I think the problem is more that the consumer now expects to be able to download pretty much everything for free and for the developer to make money in some other way. E.G F2P games

At the time I thought they would just turn down the money/minute dial to almost zero once they had brought enough people to their platform that it wasn't worth it anymore. I didn't realise they would shut it down completely.

I completely agree, recently took my Acer c720 with Lubuntu on it with me on my trip to GDC, it cost me £170 new and I could use it for everything I needed, which was basically just working on my game and browsing the internet. One of those

I wish people would stop insisting that there is such a thing as talent. People who try hard at something and put a lot of time in to doing and learning about that thing, will improve. Some people are a lot more interested / motivated
