Same here: handle on our washing machine broke (plastic). It's no longer in production and I can't find one anywhere. A printer means never having to upgrade to a new model just because you can't get the parts.

If the Earth was a closed system it could be indetified as having finite resources. Unfortunately for the authors of the story, that basic premise is false. ET solar radiation is 1367 watts per square meter [1]. Added to that the (current)

state laws sometimes pass the debt of a parent along to children who can pay it.

yes, like fire, credit is useful servant but a terrible master. If you relax your attention it's easy to turn the relationship upside down.

Credit is a trap for the unwary and those that fail to plan ahead. I include myself in that group, as I have credit debt. Don't do - save your money.

" Although both numbers are high, Montana has four times as many whooping cough cases per person than Louisiana. " - how much of this is due to vaccination and how much is due to different climates? Or other non-obvious factors?

ditto for me too. I read multiple books a week now, versus only what I could carry home from the library, or buy at the bookstore.

hell yeah, a messaging app won't save the human race. If Elon is successful in his endeavor, we won't have to worry about a single planet-event wiping out the human race.

Being lost is pretty much normal at your age. You've only just (what, 3 years ago?) finished college. You haven't yet experienced enough of the world to know what you want to do for the next 10 or so years. Take the day job, save

Life is a struggle. I'm edging more and more towards life NEEDING a struggle to reach it's potential. The struggle must be balanced, but it is necessary.

Try The Dresden Files. It will be (at completion) approximately 26 books in length (yep, 26). Jim Butcher currently released book 15 (Skin Game). And I have to say, every book has gotten better than the previous book. Jim started out with a

A beautiful poem, one that many a legal immigrant saw upon entering the US as they began inprocessing through the Ellis Island immigration station. One that the illegal aliens will not see as they illicitly cross our border, seeking to evad

by gretful 12y ago
so I'd take that as you're anti-anti-vaxer, but pro illegal aliens? And nice job putting words into my mouth, I didn't say you HAD to be against Y, I said you SHOULD. And it wasn't denying immigration I was talking about

by gretful 12y ago
Quick question: how many of you are against the flood of illegal immigrants making their way into the US? If you're worried about killing herd immunity, you should really be voicing your discontent over both the GOP and Democrat partie

So here you have a Doctor trying to be Lawyer. There is a chance, however small, of a bad reaction to the vaccine. The Doctor knows this, therefore he cannot give this woman her 100% guarantee that nothing will go wrong because of the vacci

by gretful 12y ago
nah, the doc is equivocating because he CAN'T give the woman a 100% guarantee (would make a nice malpractice suit if something did happen to the child).

Shouldn't be hard - I couldn't tell you a single product that Ballmer had a vision for. I heard a quote a couple of decades ago: "more companies die of digestion than starvation". I'd sure hate to see it happen here

It's funny, really. Even poor white men are treated this way. People judge by appearances. People want to be around people that are like them. They want a 'tribe', not diversity. It's human nature.

I wonder how many people here will feel the same about, for instance, Rahm in Chicago, or others of Obama's circle of friends, when they begin moving into private business? Will they be held to the same standards?
