How would you determine whether the cause of them not dying was 'the shape of their foot', and not any of thousands of other features you could arbitrarily pick, such as 'the balance of their skeleton', or 'their ga

No. Swift doesn't have traits. It has protocols but these can't currently contain implementation. Implementation is currently strictly based on single inheritance with open classes (through extension).

What you're saying here seems to be taking about poor evaluators, rather than anything to do with the method of evaluation. How does self-aggrandizement, for example, result from evaluating how people have solved problems?

You evaluate a programmer on the coding problems they solve that contribute to the business. There is nothing so clear for teachers other than their class performance on standardized tests, but standardized tests measure only a very limited

There are lots of other things you can do to resist capitalist oppression - e.g. Unionize, or create other kinds of social support. A strawman isn't very useful. I'm sorry you've chosen to be accusatory instead of reasonable

You are conflating agency and privilege. In the case of resisting oppression, the available actions are unchanged, but the consequences are different.

Your example of the autocrat who has a magical means to alter everyone's behavior is totally artificial and has no corollary in the real world, and therefore isn't relevant to the real world concept of agency.

Agency is not zero sum. That's why you couldn't use it to make your argument and had to switch to using the word 'freedom' to construct a straw man.

Agency is not a zero sum game. We don't have to reduce the agency of 'privileged' people. We just have to resist oppressive behavior.

Yeah - the central point is that there aren't really caveats about Swift being simpler than objective-c. It's not perfect, but Objective-C has a much greater number of rough edges so is strictly harder for new users.

I think you're wrong about both of these. Yes, it's true that you need to inherit from NSObject in some cases, but Cocoa is complex anyway, and this is not added complexity, so it's not different from objective-c in this reg

I stand corrected, and your argument holds, however there is a great deal of objective-c code out there, so it will take a long time to go away.

A load of colleges (e.g. Stanford) already teach iOS development. Swift and playgrounds will automatically chance how this is taught.

You are misunderstanding - this isn't about which is better. Almost all new application code will be written in Swif, but swift doesn't bridge between C and the Swift/obj-c runtime, so Objective-C will continue to be require

I think this is false. Things that are simple in Objective-C will be simpler in Swift, with better feedback from the compiler. Things that are complex in objective-c will also be simpler and more robust in swift. There is a kind of compl
