I take this road every day when I go to the University of Amsterdam's REC. It was very odd at first and they worded it as if it was a short-lived experiment, but then the lights never returned. To be fair, it's amazing. It's

Seems like the block isn't hardcoded, so you don't even have to do that.

It is not so easy to decide if the watermark covers an important aspect of the photo.

I completely agree, and appreciate your efforts too. Even developed countries are (I would say) failing at taking care of mentally ill people.

I'm not going to lie, homeless people make me uneasy. I'm not rich, white, or privileged that I put myself on a pedestal; I'm simply aware that a great deal of homeless people are mentally ill, and that doesn't make me f

Well, one thing is that the marginal profit of labour is bound to be diminishing at such scale. However, keep in mind that it's not marginal revenue, but profit. This means that it's still a viable strategy to increase the amount

No! Low population growth leads to a smaller labour force, and a growing elderly demographic. It's not a solution to overpopulation.

You just use WU. May be even more anonymous than bitcoins if you bribe the agents well enough.

I don't think that's really a vulnerability. It's just a stupid fun way to write `cmd.exe`. You can open up Notepad and write a batch file there too.

For some reason, I never felt this as a friction or problem needed to be resolved. In the Netherlands everybody (really!) uses debit cards, so it's easy to have people pay for what they got. Beer, however, is when you get to be charita

The tablet virus is the idea that tablet computers can replace desktops. I, personally, don't disagree [tablets] can cover a good portion of the layman's usecases; yet it is important to teach (to) and have people realise the stre

I am really interested in a consumer-clean modular desktop concept. Sometimes I feel like there needs to be something that will save the layman from the tablet virus.

Of all the topics in which HN has provided me immensely deep insight, its userbase has failed equally immensely in economics. Comments from people who took just one Economics 101 class in college baselessly trashing the field making it to t

The reason why that information is not disclosed is not because they don't want their citizens to know. They don't want others to know; that's when it would actually compromise the security.

I am 99% sure you cannot do that. Cross-referencing cell loops are detected and prohibited, so you cannot even make a tape reader. Also, I'm not sure if you can set cell formulas with formulas either.

JS ecosystem tries to do that by having bootstrapping repositories. Although I will have to say that it is nowhere near as high-quality and convenient as Go has it. Standardising best practices most often seem too restrictive to programmers

The two billion figure is not an accurate one. Two billion users (not individual persons) rely entirely on Facebook as their primary source of news. I don't think the relevant figure is more than a few millions.

I am yet to see a study that has compared one-pack-a-day smokers of tobacco and marijuana. Effects of cigarettes become significant after one pack year, and I don't know if you can even find participants for a test, who smoke marijuana
