Really cool. It uses silver iodide though. How much silver would need to be consumed to make this work? That probably won't be cheap.

Same here. It took me going though 3 computers in about 4 years to see the point of paying more for good build quality. Installed linux on it. Unlike a mac it has an nvidia gpu so you can train neural networks on it (and yes it got hot enou

Last time I was out the hospital they had robots running around to just to pick up towels. Robots are great and all, but that's a symptom of not managing costs.

People don't ever talk about this, but we still grow rice in California. To grow rice you have to flood a field in several inches of water.

I'll second that. As someone who once worked on fingerprinting scripts I can tell you that iPhones of the same model are basically indistinguishable to Javascript.

Yeah definitely read The Robber Barons. It covers all the major tycoons of the 19th century and their financial shenanigans. A surprisingly exciting read, full of wicked deeds. To tell one story from the book, there was a battle over a rai

Let's hope visa doesn't convince society that getting rid of cash is the future. Not only would that be a terrible blow to privacy, it would entrench the need to pay Visa or another credit card company 2% of every transaction.

Why does it need to recognize specific types of animals? It seems like bad programming practice to code (or learn) for each specific case. Is there not a way to program cars to avoid animals more broadly, or simply objects that are moving t

This doesn't prove that smog is the cause. Perhaps the people in smoggier districts had lower education levels and didn't stay as mentally active in old age? There are too many other variables that could be at fault.
