I recently onboarded 2 JR developers who didn't know Elixir. I purchased pragmatic's video course for them, but they both liked the Joy of Elixir better. In contrast, the seniors liked the pragmatic training better.

It's the chocolate ice cream vs vanilla ice cream argument. There isn't an accounting for taste. If static typing if your thing it's never going to taste the right way to you. I'm just the opposite, I greatly appreciate

I live in another TN city rolling out municipal fiber. I live in a middle class area of town. I've been asking for 1G for years, but ATT keeps telling me "there's not enough need in that area of town". That changes as so

I chose my current employer because I had the option to choose an Elixir/Phoenix stack. In addition, I managed to get another senior developer to join me and leave his secure quasi-government job because of Elixir as well.

While that's true, there are work arounds. Github does support Subversion. Having found myself on a team (in the past) that was tied to an outdated version control solution (source safe), you can still use Git locally to facilitate bra

This is a very leading question. Are you trying to invoke Cunningham's Law on purpose? Or just in a very pro-lisp environment that HN is known for? A better question might be to "compare & contrast Python OOP vs Lisp CLOS"

I was under the impression that VSCode originally had pieces of the open source licensed Atom editor, as well as other bits here and there. I haven't confirmed this to be 100% true, but I've seen articles like this https:/&#
