I learned programming over 40 years ago, mainly from reading books and experimenting, and reading a lot of code. Studying code until you understand it takes time but rewards the effort. Jumping in and hacking until you get something to work

I don’t think that’s worth worrying about. No amount of worry will extend the life of the SSD. But you can backup your files to cloud storage or an external drive so if the SSD does wear out you don’t lose anything important.

I don’t feel anxious about things like that. If I did I would find the large files on my Mac, check if I have multiple identical copies of any of them, then cp -c to make new copies. But disk space is cheap so mainly I wouldn’t worry about

If it bothers you that much make an alias. In your .profile or .bashrc (or whatever your shell reads at startup): alias cp=“cp -c” Or give it another name if you like.

Consider the growing number of people who don't or won't use X/Twitter. Can you host demos on your own web site? I can't hear or see what Musk says so I have no basis to judge the translation. Explain how your translator

Because for a lot of English speakers "trans" means "transgender." It doesn't get used as a short version of "translate."

I think you haven’t considered the luxury goods aspect of higher-end phones. The majority of people buying new phones every year or two don’t carefully study specs, and don’t need to use a PC or laptop at all, or only need a “real” computer

Multiple layers of complex abstractions and sloppy coding account for a lot of it. We write code as if it had no hardware constraints, so we get megabytes-size web pages running a slow interpreted language in a browser built on multiple lay
