Spotify doesn't do that anymore because while it makes sense technically it did not make business sense. Most users would not appreciate this even if it had no appreciable affect on their bandwidth.

Something like 13% of comcasts outgoing data is bittorrent already. The issue is most people won't like the idea of having their upload bandwidth being without their knowledge or permission.

I believe they were planning to expand the number of countries they operate in. The US also has terrible credit card systems compared to any other developed nation.

Stripe seems to be the default payment processor for tech startups. Especially now they are going to support Bitcoin.

I was mainly referencing the privacy vs data collection arms race. In this case I don't think anyone is going to be severely affected by this.
