I’ve never thought about it until SVB collapse, but I wonder how they address the risk of a liquidity crisis? Do they hold assets other than their customer’s deposits? Are they even a bank?

Isn’t that offloaded to the underlying hardware? Presumably they have sufficient control at that level for their current lineup, but I’m not sure what it means for aftermarket disks and external disks.

A standardised laptop GPU connector could be a game changer and would be a killer feature. There have been a few false starts in that space with MXM, but they never really took off. It’s often the first thing people upgrade on a desktop (it

I’m not sure if you’re trying to say that more people have watched a particular episode of IASIP, or a classic action adventure movie from a very popular film franchise?

Not sure why it needs an acceleromete, gyro or gps, and the solar circuitry might not be required for all use cases. Seems a bit over engineered, unless they were gearing towards a roving platform your could put on the back of your bike, or

Both seagate and WD are in late stages of developing new platforms that will double the density, with 50TB disks expected around 2025-6.

I think volunteer folding will always need to compete with crypto mining, and the appeal may be further diminished if commercial interests are likely to reap the rewards. Perhaps if there was a way to combine mining and folding, to allow pa

Interestingly, the transistor density of GPUs has been following a roughly logarithmic curve since 2000, compared to the linear increase in x86 processors [1]. I totally agree that the incremental innovations observed in earlier GPU platfor

It’s possible to set a custom filter in iOS, which reduces the brightness even further, but only in one colour, ie red. Better than nothing. The main issue i think is that backlights tend to flicker at low brightness.
