There's another reason too. While Linux got more 'desktop-friendly' with all the GUI apps and Windows-like WMs we faced a shift to web-base apps which I think is the real reason. I run Arch + i3 as a WM, so a very bare-bone s

Always smiled at phishing scams but this scares the hell out of me, so I just headed to Google to setup 2-factor authentication. How is your experience? I understood that I can register specific machines not to use 2-factor, so if I loose m

The salary seems to be the most important thing for many people, i.e. this post got upvoted to place number one within minutes. I think the salary is just one tiny part of the entire equation. As long as you can pay your rent, eat and save

Don't want to be the jerk here. The problem with languages is that it's not enough to be just great, feature-rich or thought-trough. At some point they must create their own ecosystem, the bigger the better. The more open, the bet

I agree. Google and that concentrating on SEO brought us to a state where the Internet is full of content with descriptive domains/business names filled with content created for Google but not for the actual user. If you choose a more

They say that more people surf the web on mobile than on desktop. Does anyone has some more data on this? What do they include in 'mobile', also tablets? I surf on my phone a lot but I still surf on my notebook as well, actually t

It gets even worse if you need to do subscriptions for your team. The management console is an utter joke. Adobe owns some of the killer apps of the creative industry but there are alternatives: Photo editing (Photoshop): - Windows: Gimp,

I want to encourage you to keep your product vision. It makes totally sense. I am a heavy tmux + vim user, developing on a remote server. So, I have all my dev sessions always running and can access them on any client. I never needed scroll

Excited and happy to see such a project! I am using iTerm2 on a maxed-out MBP 15 Retina quad core and Xshell on a $150 Asus Cherry Trail netbook. You won't believe it but Xshell on the crappy netbook feels light-years faster and more r

Getting into React is kind of mixed bag. The core concepts are easy to understand and compared to other frameworks lean. JSX is easy, components are trivial but once you try to get productive, wow, it's not that simple anymore. It'

I code and I like huge, crisp screens. Minimum two or better three. One for the code, one for testing and one for API docs. If those monitors are hi-dpi, even better (or rather a must in 2016). With the new MBP 15 I can drive... 2x 5k 27&qu

I agree about Facebook. They must have a great culture. Look what FB did for the JS ecosystem just recently—yarn, React, React Native, Immutable. Really excellent stuff which you not only need superb people but also a good culture. So, I&#x

Anyone knows if v0.92 now supports hi-dpi screens? Last version didn't and I couldn't find anything in the release notes. Otherwise a superb product, in particular if you are on Windows or Linux and you can't run Sketch.

Slightly OT: I was once like the OP. I shaved off every bit of my pages, almost no libs, CDN delivery, benchmarked and stress tested it with ab (Apache Bench) after every commit (!), this thing was fast like a beast but tricky to maintain.

No, but what about locate, grep and find? Locate is the fastest, find is the slowest and grep is the most complex but also the most versatile one of these since you can use regexes. It's the shell and you can use anything you want.
