It might not necessarily be toxic. But it's a possible red flag that the company doesn't trust their employees. And that they time lunch breaks and other breaks.

That's exactly it. Exponential growth can only be cut short if proper containment measures are followed. If not, infection rates will look like the S curve of popular technology adoption rates, where it only tapers off when nearly ever

Sometimes the reason it's done that way, is because they were in a rush in the first iteration, and never got around to refactoring. Loads of VC money means you can take more time up front to architect things better. Maybe have more ex

It can become much more convoluted than just having a function used in many places. It usually takes the form of multiple levels of inheritance. And it's a pain to deal with, and somewhat of a pain to refactor as well.

I think I can probably speak for all English second language speakers, as I am one - Can everyone just stick to English? Otherwise I have to learn a third language. English is pretty important. It's not really possible to collaborate e

I view any branch that only I work on as my sandbox as well. You should only ever rebase non-public branches in any case. So I don't see the problem.

I prefer to squash away commits that leave the code in a non-working state. Because it makes using git bisect easier later if you need to find a commit that broke something.

If you're trying to figure out whether it's safer do drive somewhere than to fly, the only metric that is relevant is deaths per unit of distance.

Using links or buttons would suck for a lot of use cases. Imagine what it would work like on your phone if you couldn't scroll through Twitter, but had to touch buttons.
