I think that RV drivers are the least of the problems in mountainous areas. I find the big dualie drivers towing boats blasting by me at 10 over the speed limit on a rainy night the type of issue. They may know the roads (if they're lo

I read "To win a nuclear war: the Pentagon's secret war plans" by Michio Kaku and Daniel Axelrod last summer. I had thought I was very well-informed on military matters, WW2 history, nuclear strategy and SIOP. After almost ev

I have a couple of goals where Pixelfed serves me well. I want to improve my photography, as well as get outside (away from all my screens) more. So I've encouraged my OCD/hyper-fixation to post daily. To improve something, I thin

I think that would be a mistake and definitely not what they want to do (from their focus on AR in general the last few years). I think at $1999 for a "base" model, they'll sell millions. I just think that the tech they need

You keep illustrating that you didn't view the keynote, or any of the followup videos and are just judging based on your priors. Clearly you haven't seen the VP in person, or you wouldn't be making such assumptions. I'm

I work for an insurance company that for a long time didn't trust digital signatures. So we accepted docs from our agents via fax. They were there four decades ago, and they're still there (of course they're fax servers). The

I've been using Pixelfed since I discovered it after Elon bought Twitter. It's helped me get back into photography and I post daily. Of course the userbase is tiny compared to Insta, but I don't care.

I don't expect the Vision devices to really drop much in price in the coming years. To lower costs, they'll have to go with lower quality displays, or cheaper cameras/sensors and less battery life. If you look at the iPhone,

I used to head down to UCSD's library when I was in grade school to read tons of their military magazines that most public libraries couldn't afford. Jane's Defence Weekly, Aviation Week etc.

The Gorshkov class frigates are a much tougher nut to crack than the Moskva was. A well orchestrated Harpoon attack might be able to, but Ukraine lacks enough launch platforms (and no aircraft that can safely reach it).

Well, the launch locations aren't static/fixed sites. The Kalibr is generally launched by Russian vessels in the Black Sea, and the Kinzhals are launched by MIG-31s. You could try to strike their airbases, or ports, but that'

Pretty sure that price for D-5 doesn't include the cost of the W-88 warhead. I would assume at a minimum those would be $10M a piece. Still doesn't make it more expensive than THAAD however.

PAC-3 MSE could probably take out an ICBM during its initial ascent, assuming it was in range. But that's an extremely small window for interception.
