I think it's about tone; it feels patronizing to me as well. "How does this approach handle {problem}?" is very socratic. You're asking a question meant to make them reconsider their idea in a very round about way. I thi

I kind of agree, I don’t want to work with a HR robot. I know someone that talks like this to non-coworker friends and it’s honestly just… offputting. I’m more into “ehhh honestly not how I would do it. The {problem} will cause issues down

+1 for Calibre and KOreader combo for remotely browsing ebooks. It works surprisingly seamlessly! Calibre is an insane piece of software on its own. Pretty much the only Swiss Army knife you need for anything “epub”.

And I hope you find a little optimism in your life! You’re saying that in your experience, greater than 20% of adults on a flight are more problematic and annoying than a crying kid? I like to think I’m pretty realistic about things but I d

Yeah actually, that’s much better. Adults have consequences, feel shame when people glare at them, and can be kicked off the flight before take off. I sit down on a flight, I roll with anything that goes wrong, and just focus on getting to

We are in a verrrry similar boat! Always been into fiddling with computers but got my first job in tech around 2013. JavaScript and PHP. Only the past couple years have I messed around with Ruby + RoR and I love it. Every time I have to tou

If something is in the public domain, and you create something new with it, you have the rights to the new work, there isn’t any sort of alike-licensing on public domain works in most-if-not-all jurisdictions. This is why music engravers ca

Just as a note since it’s not 100% clear which project you’re talking about, LibreOffice and OpenOffice are now two different projects. One is just a fork of the other. LibreOffice (the topic of this article and version change) isn’t very s
