The reason does not seem to be stated at the provided link. If you know the reason (which your message seems to imply), could you please share it?

I also do not like "crypto", but I do not think this type of restriction is great on a paid service. Maybe, maybe it could be argued for public repositories. Or if it was free. But like, why does Drew DeVault care that I woul

I stopped paying for sourcehut because his opinions are relevant here since he bans types of projects based on them. You never know when another restriction will be added.

Hm, cannot you just have a tree-way switch determining the active control (both, A only, B only)?

It is unusual term in the area of protocols, but it seems understandable it tries to draw a parallel to higher order functions. So "some nonsense" might be a bit strong...

That would work for (some) fields, but I do not expect enough people will volunteer to clean up the streets or stock up the shelf at the stores.

I mean, 300kB is just the changelog and >1MB is configure script... Translations take up a lot as well. I am not arguing nano is pinnacle of minimalism, but it is not like it's 3MB of C code.

Not really. You can have a daemon, that fetches from IMDS just what the particular user needs and stores it in a way accessible to just that user.

You can use iptables to allow access only from the root user. That is what we do. I feel like that help to a large degree, assuming you properly run the applications under separate users.

You might give GNU Guix a try, combination of guix time-machine and guix shell -C should give you the exact same environment each time without fear of being affected by the rest of the system (with the obvious exception of the linux kernel)

Sure, I don't have to, but everything in the stack assumes I would run it in the recommended way. I gave up trying to setup my LAN to support IPv6 after I wasted more than 2 hours on convincing my router, and devices behind it, to so

I think that if IPv6 would just be IPv4 with bigger addresses, the rollout would be much easier. Sure, you would still need new hardware, but the basic operations would still be the same as IPv4. Currently, it is far from that.
