Why was this comment detached as off-topic? The fact that they do not respond to applicants in a timely manner (if at all) is important to people applying for jobs and something that others have commented on previously for a variety of job

Interviewed here a few years ago and wouldn't recommend it. The interviewer I spoke with only wanted one solution (which they had conceived) to a problem they had and became very defensive when I explained potential engineering issues

For anyone considering any of these jobs I wouldn't recommend spending too much time on the application process as they do not respond in the positive or negative and leave you in limbo.

You may need to follow up with them, last time I got in touch with them the ball was dropped somewhere along the line.

Interesting. I'm not sure why they would respond to people via phone instead of email but thanks for noting that they responded to some candidates.

The current address is the email that I contacted and never heard back.

Have you looked at GitLab's offering recently? It might be a better fit than GitHub.

I didn't hear back in the positive or negative when I emailed this address last time so heads up for anyone applying.

Are you planning on responding to all candidates that apply? I applied quite a while back and never heard anything in the positive or negative even after following up multiple times.

Contacted their team in the past and never received a response (positive or negative) even after trying to follow up. Would recommend against expecting a response.

Thanks for the heads up. It's sketchy enough they don't even offer healthcare until you have worked their 90 days, but knowing they wast applicant's time is a huge benefit.

I would rather just run small businesses and side projects. Still a pretty high chance of failing, but if they do fail you still learn and it doesn't impact your bottom line that badly.

Did you check out Stripe connect?: https://stripe.com/connect I'm not sure if that will work for your business but it's worth checking into.

A recruiter contacted me a while back with a similar act, just completely clueless. I put out ridiculous terms and informed him of a handbook I've written to help him improve. He responded by saying he was interested but only if it had

I tried to explain this once in an interview and the interviewer was not happy. They didn't like the idea of deploying a dozen different services. They also didn't like my ideas around keeping the services relatively simple and sc

I was running one of my projects on Vultr for a while and didn't appreciate the random restarts with no warning. Ended up using DO for my next project. I hope that DO reduces their prices, right now they're getting destroyed by Vu

I encountered the same problem with restarts you did, though I only had 4 in ~8 months. They gave no advanced warning and simply notified that my instance had been restarted which was extremely unprofessional to me.

I was hosting a project on a vultr VPS and they rebooted my instance more than 4 times in 8 months. Definitely wouldn't recommend them.

Pretty much. All of these SF startup CEOs just rotate around companies and start new ones. The whole mentality there from the (moronic) angel investors to the people they hire as CEOs propagates and rewards the culture common at these shops

Yawn, another one of these? Sure some companies look at your GitHub profile, but this post is just conjecture based on one person's very small bubble.

The recruiters at Amazon are pretty bad in general. They don't give enough details about positions, salary, or anything else to make it worth discussing. I get contacted a few times a year and I always ask to just be added to the '

I actually wrote a short field manual on this (partially as a joke) to try and sell to recruiters that gives them tips about actually, you know understanding the candidate they are contacting.

Why would she lie about something like this? If she's lying then her career will be wrecked, and Uber will hit her with a defamation lawsuit that will ruin her life and finances.

I was also going to say a Zojirushi rice cooker. I've had mine for 6 years and it shows no signs of slowing down. Super easy to clean and makes amazing rice every time.

This read like a poorly research article where the people running the company didn't even see what makes remote work feasible before allowing it. The goal seems to be to get a lot of page views via controversy so you would scroll to th

I recognize that it might fail and ensure that failing is not the end of the world. If the project does fail then I make sure I learn from it for future projects. I wrote a blog post on a failed project a while back that covers some of this

I agree with this. For an open source project it's just going to be ridiculous. "Hey you know all that free work you already do? Well now you can troubleshoot some user's OS issues as well! Doesn't that sound like fun, w
