I've never been impressed with Trader Joe's fresh produce, though, and almost everything I buy is produce or bulk staples (rice, lentils, beans, oats). TJ's seems to specialize in frozen and snack foods.

I disagree with your last statement. The most convincing explanation I've seen of Google's motivations with Android is that Android is a hedge in case Google is locked out of other platforms. They make money from people using Google service

So why did the W3C choose Google's audio proposal? Was there some kind of political wrangling going on there or were there purely technical reasons? I've wondered about that for a while.

Interesting. Are you aware of any libraries taking this approach (write a library in Lua, create bindings for C, C++, Python, Ruby, etc)?

These points are all very true, and I admit I haven't done more with Go yet than play around. But there are a few reasons I feel I don't like Go, or at least, there are warts that will probably limit how much I'm going to like it. Nil poi

What did Wave do that addressed email's shortcomings? Any examples? I remember when Wave came out, I couldn't figure out what it actually was or what problem it was trying to solve... it was as vexing to this email user as Haskell's zygohis

Was that United Airlines? A few months ago their reservation site broke for me with AdBlock/Ghostery. I just used a different browser entirely, but in retrospect I suspect it may have been Ghostery's fault.

If it's fair for you to benchmark this, it's surely also fair for me to point out that in a lazily-evaluated language (Haskell!), Tom's approach is O(n) and equivalent to Dick's. :)

I'm curious now, is anyone over college age (say, 25+) using this thing? The way it's based on impermanence intrigues me more and more, but no one I know's on it yet.

The problem with that is it's still only 256 colors, which likely doesn't include all the colors in my preferred colorscheme. That's why I'm looking for "true-color", which typically means 16.7 million colors like we are used to (e.g. #rrgg

The old QBasic Nibbles game that shipped with DOS 5.0 used up/down/left/right, and that was the one I always played as a kid. All the clones I've seen over the years use up/down/left/right as well. Which versions did you play that only use

I view an essay like this as a conversation starter. It's asking questions, not answering them. It's stimulating thought, not trying to end it by giving us The Real Truth™.

Seriously? So to start waking up at 6 instead of 9, you should take a 3 week vacation and turn your schedule entirely upside down? Sounds a lot more disruptive than just sleeping/waking 15 minutes earlier each day for a while.
