I'd be interested in an explanation on exactly what your problem with Glenn Greenwald is, and why exactly you think he is deceptive. Over the last couple years, since I discovered him, I've found him to be among the most persuasiv

Event: A bunch of schoolchildren are brutally murdered by a guy with a gun. Conversation in the media: Maybe citizens shouldn't have guns. At least not guns that can easily fire lots of rounds in a short period of time. Massive well-fu

I'm curious why I haven't seen any talk about porn. Wait, seriously. Come back for a second. Porn. We all know a significant fraction of internet traffic is porn. Most men probably watch it. Perhaps also a large fraction of women.

That would certainly fit with the classification of encryption methods by the government as “munitions”. p.s. web graphics?

If you are passionate about the right to bear arms, because you view it as a vital protection against a tyrannical government, I'm curious how you feel about surveillance/collection of all your phone calls, movements, and internet

Why would you hope not? I would rather people talked less in this situation. It means they've adjusted their behavior in accordance with their new, more accurate, understanding of the world.

One story here is about what a “hacker” is. What the word represents, what people who identify with it value, and what role those people play in private industry, in government, and in the military/security/intelligence world. Her

There are two axis that seem to matter, by my way of thinking, whether this business is conducted via carrier pigeons or fiber optic cables. 1. What is the process. What requests come from the government. What government entities make those

Feinstein's constituency is Silicon Valley. And while we know all about the Google/Facebook/Apple/Y-Combinator silicon valley, there's also that other Silicon Valley. http://vimeo.com/15992737

I'm thinking now of how nice a time the person replacing me at that last job is going to have. They'll try the documented way to start services and run tests, and those things will work on the first try. You're welcome, whoever you are :)

Better, but only slightly. At the extreme other end from pairing, I worked very independently. I had a nice system worked out for how I like to organize repositories, data, logs, installations etc. That takes some setup work but it pays off

No, I don't mean to imply that it was as simple as that. This was a place where programmers pair all the time. If you're working by yourself, and you don't have things like quick editor navigation down, nobody cares. If you're pairing with

That reminds me of a stupid thing I said once. At a sprint retrospective, I said something to the effect of “I realize that I could stand to get faster at coding and using the editor shortcuts”. I was fired the next day. Reason given: codin
