Precisely, in my worldview. Brands have some amount of value for users as they are a stamp of a certain level of manufacturing standard. However that does not mean they are inherently beneficial to consumers.

I hate how real I think this probably is. Anecdotally there is massive crossover between religious individuals and climate change deniers among people I know.

To be pedantic, I think saying there are very few is misleading. There are very few outside of older neighborhoods like you say, but there are plenty of small brick/cobblestone roads around. Just not many heavily traveled or particular

Are you suggesting the fact that there is not much PHP work around means that the career prospects of the field are in decline? One language is not indicative of the whole, this comment is not evidence either. And besides you seem to be ass

Stuff like this and their hackathon reps are why I care about Twilio in the first place. I have suggested its use professionally before and I would have never remembered the service existed if it wasn't for a great hackathon experience

Not being able to love yourself sucks. You can't find happiness when you don't want it, don't feel like you deserve it.

I'm super into not thinking about money right now, and am acutely aware that I am only able to do so because I don't desire more than a modest lifestyle, have cheap hobbies, and a stable high paying job. If you have sufficient pr

I love this quote thanks for sharing, only thing wrong is that it's framed as career advice and not just general advice. I've spent my life thus far following an explicit path checking the boxes I was 'supposed' to and i

Also understand what author means, coming from Pittsburgh where the roads are simply not meant for cars. There are many intersections so confusing where it takes too much time to even interpret the rules. You regularly find yourself in situ

Anathem is a great book that explores lots of interesting, fairly unique ideas, and does some moderately original world building. But I always tell people Stephenson (the author, personal favorite) isn't for everyone, and Anathem isn&#

I believe there are a few other conditions besides Celiacs which are pretty serious that make eating gluten a bad look, though less prominent.

Yes, I was quite annoyed by them calling out, and seeming to try to shame, the advice of going for a run. Mental stuff can be pretty bad my way, and these days sticking to a good workout routine is doing wonders for keeping me grounded. De

Nobody understands when I complain about losing Rdio (which is often), it was sooooo much better and nobody knew/cared.

I have had significantly worse luck with Pandora even, but haven't used it in ages. Rdio, before it went bankrupt, worked the best for me.

Listening to sufficiently different types of music destroys discovery functionality for me. My weekly discovery is almost always filled with music that spans from 'boring and unoriginal' to 'heard this before'. I want so

I am glad they took the time to mention Super Smash Bros Melee. That game took over my life for a time, and in hindsight it was because it was the medium that made me feel as if I was expressing myself honestly for the first time.

Thanks for being charitable, I did not mean to imply that what I claim many comp sci people do is any better or less arrogant, just different.

The only difference (from my perspective of course) is comp sci arrogance is directed towards our field and associated methodologies, principles, etc. Doctors direct their arrogance towards themselves.

I only miss google as a DDG user when DDG doesn't have a tool google has to give you an automatic result, i.e. when trying to look up some unit conversion ratio like lb to kg. But when you know that is what you want there is always !g.
