The enshitification of search engines is driving me more and more to LLMs for all their warts. I can usually force them to provide sources and do my search that way.

I wish they had made a pro mini. The only reason I got rid of mine was for the zoom of the pro.

In the shipping scenario, you can’t really know if it’s a local address or not without talking to someone with local knowledge. The FAA even legally accepts “third house down from the barn” in some instances. The KYC scenario is different,

Game of Trees (a BSD licensed Git clone that’s affiliated with the OpenBSD project) looks like it’s going live with a community platform. More info is available at their site: https://gothub.org/

To some extent, laws are enforced and interpreted subjectively. The famous quote “give me the man and I will give you the case against him.” Comes to mind. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Give_me_the_man_and_I_will_g...

If they keep predicting that, eventually they’ll be right! (It’s hard to harvest more power from a star than a Dyson sphere is capable of)

That's actually a nice perk since I have LLMs summarize or re-word my research findings quite often. I'm a disorganized person, so they've been a big help with me organizing my work. I also like that Markdown is being added s

This sent me down a rabbit hole, but high altitude periodic breathing seems related for some people living at high altitude. Sleep apnea can be a disqualifying condition for pilots, so I like to be 1000% certain and have plans A, B, and C r

100% this. If I have something juicy I want to show my wife about how they’re messing up our 401k’s, etc. I take a phone picture so that there’s no record of it happening on the official device. Microsoft doing this is a huge waste of time

Yeah, I think you’re right. I don’t think anyone has figured out how to moderate AI well, so many of them seem overly-zealous at this point.

I asked “ Toddlers should be allowed to be licensed to operate a motor vehicle.” with yes/no answers. It errors out with “ Please moderate the content of your question before submitting it.”

Let’s not forget that the highly combustible liquid gas either needs to be stored with complicated cooling or under immense pressure (feel free to disprove me if I haven’t kept up with technology). It can be done safely, but adds a lot of c

I can foresee a lot of places using battery “reservoirs” as batteries become cheaper. Gas stations don’t have pipelines straight to the pump. It only makes more sense if you want to make the grid greener & have price arbitrage based on

That’s hilarious to me suggesting that DNS can facilitate privacy. What about the people who own the copper that’s transporting the piracy? That actually seems like it’s more of a direct link than DNS.

Similar story here. Our insurance likes to mail things, but gets the prescription wrong or it doesn’t show up 60% of the time. We spend a lot of time arguing on the phone.

Somehow, my father in law managed to set some sketchy search engine as his default. I forget exactly what it was, but it was definitely serving malware ads. I’d prefer a static list for those people. I could write a book on the crazy stuff

In principle I agree, but there needs to be an “old person mode.” The number of times I’ve uninstalled malware on my relatives’ computers is astounding.

While true, they are not sustaining combustion within the turbo. I believe this is what makes the problem more difficult, and it sounded like what the OC was suggesting. Turbos float on a layer of motor oil, and have a crude design compared

Suggesting a turbine could go in a gas car on size/weight alone isn’t a great idea. I’m saying this as someone in the aviation industry. Turbines are amazing pieces of machinery and incredibly reliable, BUT incredibly expensive to oper

I’m sure the police would come to my door, but I could show records of it not really being “my phone number”. Family plans are pretty common here, so I wouldn’t expect too much friction. I would absolutely cooperate (obviously through a law

I currently pay for 4 other people, because the way plans work in the US, it’s a lot cheaper. I don’t bother to update the names on their lines, so they all probably link back to me.

I used to be a volunteer SAR member in Colorado. You are correct that it takes many, many hours in a lot of cases. Helis were almost never used, and you’d get rolled down the mountain on a “big wheel” if you couldn’t walk. This was not fun

Until things like this carry mandatory jail time or we have corporate structure reform, they’re going to continue happening. It’s easy enough to structure companies such that you can declare bankruptcy and spin up a new one. It’s also a lot

I’m not saying this is a good idea, but conspiracy/prepper YouTube channels seem to be thriving off ad revenue these days.
