Co-founder of cloudron here. There is a demo at https://my-demo.cloudron.me/ (username: cloudron password: cloudron). It's hidden deep below the blog post. Happy to answer any questions.

The Cloudron is intended to run on a VPS/Single tenant server. Apps get installed into this server as docker containers (this is so that apps are isolated from each other). We also have some best practices in place for Docker container

I will be there. We are working on Cloudron. It is a platform for self-hosting web apps [1]. I am hoping to network with people who have similar interests (i.e self-hosting). It's my first Startup School, so I am quite excited. 1. htt

I don't have specific advice but if you are considering incorporating as in germany, I am happy to talk with you about our experience. We recently incorporated as a UG (cloudron.io). Feel free to send me an email!

Looks very interesting and I can possibly use this at my work. I will take a closer look but what was not immediately apparent was: what kind of backups are we talking about here? mysqldump or volume snapshots ? What about incremental backu

That's fine :-) We are doing quite well and have a few paying customers. And lots of people evaluating the product.

Sorry, which tool :-) ? Docker compose? Cloudron gives you a private server (we use DigitalOcean right now) on which you can install web apps. We automate everything about maintaining your server - DNS, certs, app updates, backups etc. In s

I play the 13x13 a lot on KGS - https://www.gokgs.com/ . Lots of bots there to play with if you feel unskilled to play with a human. With larger boards, the bots seems to be very easy to beat.

The 30m sales number is quite interesting. Contrast this with digia's sale report ( http://annualreport2015.digia.com/about-digia/business-overv... ). Very close competition!

Yup, I am aware of that thanks to my obsessive reading of HN :-) But I was just pointing out that it's not easy as switching a git origin in case you want to move to something else other than GitLab.

Cloudron and sandstorm are similar projects. I think the main difference is the user experience (also how we handle domains, how apps are packaged etc). You can see a demo of the cloudron here - https://my-demo.cloudron.me/

Success is subjective, profitability is not. we all have different metrics for success. Though I agree that metric for success for a company is probably profitability but you will find people disagree with you on that as well.
