I have tinkered with RPI a lot in my previous life, I used to maintain the Qt eglfs QPA plugin. Back then, they were quite under powered CPU wise. Are the recent versions powerful enough to host websites and data for every day use? Like say

Not sure I follow. Why is REST lock in? Because it can only be used in a single service? S3 API for example is probably a counter example. But it shows that the lock in is not inherent to REST, no?

Hetzner storage has some fantastic deals which supports NFS mounting. Backblaze is also good and has a reputation of being very cheap but you should be aware that the download has a cost if you download your backups often. Wasabi storage is

Ah, good to know. Is that a requirement that the client and the core talk IRC to qualify as a bouncer? I guess that will also rule lounge as a bouncer since afaik it talks HTTP and not IRC. ZNC is a proper bouncer then.

Note that it's not just a client but a irc bouncer. Like znc and quassel.

Ah, I misunderstood what you were saying. So, what you are suggesting is a privacy focused backup option for the existing cloud services. That is indeed an excellent idea. Before I went totally selfhosted, I had a tough time getting my pic

I think this is a fantastic attitude. Build something that you personally care about. Worst that can happen is you lose a lot of money, but honestly what would be worse if you never tried.

I don't think it matters if the product is selfhosted and opensource. That said, in my circles, people are wary about deploying software from specific countries even if they are selfhosted and opensource. I think part of the issue is t

I don't identify myself as a social entrepreneur but we built Cloudron around 2014 for personal reasons. When Google Reader shut down, we realized the importance of self-hosting and data ownership. Initially, we started writing our own

Can you explain what you mean by DDoS attack in the context of mail server? Are you just getting a lot of network traffic (for example, just open connections on smtp/imap ports) or are you getting all sorts of spam (like an email bomb)
