In my experience the more water someone drinks, the chance higher the chance they drink it at room temperature. It‘s just not comfortable to drink (very) cold water all day long.

I’ve been in a lot of places in Europe but have never gotten ice in my water. Sometimes a bottle that’s in a container with ice to stay cool while it’s on the table. There will often be ice in soda though, which is something I’ve never unde

Sure but If I’m gonna watch mortally questionable content I might as well spin up a Jellyfin server and have a better viewing experience, or simply use an ad blocker instead of paying for premium.

I don’t understand the price of YouTube premium at all, it’s way too expensive for what it offers compared to other streaming services: - YouTube does not produce its own content, nor does it pay licensing fees. - a premium account is for a

In Europe the prices have also (once again) increased tremendously, where I’m at the entry level iPad went from €389 to a whopping €589 over night, that’s nearly a 50% increase.

The issue with this model is that many state updates are not scoped to a single fragment. When you go to a another page, you’ll likely want to update the amount of results on one or more detached components. That’s way more natural to by ge

The usual suspect for js style manipulation are animations, and because css animations have all sorts of limitations where you will likely run into so it's more convenient to use the same js tooling for animations almost everywhere.

This weird abbreviation fetish was a big turnoff when I just got into programming (about 15 years ago when it was a lot more common). It’s just nonsensical and off putting.

That’s because they implemented the link using history.pushState (default non-js link behaviour) when history.replaceState should be used instead. It might still be valid to use a link for an on-page modal, for instance when it needs to be

I can’t think of a source for this so take it as you wish but at some point in history it was attempted to mitigate this by changing the reading direction every other sentence so you’d be able to read in a continuous stream. It failed for o

The web is optimised for the bulk of its users, that’s why 90% of the websites limit line length at a ‘researched’ optimal width, and some legacy or (legacy) tech enthousiast focussed websites wrap at the end of the available width.

About 90% of any can and should be replaced with unknown which is infinitely more useful and a lot safer. There is an example signature at the end of the article; (x: any) => string, this error would not fly if x were unknown. On of the

This touches a semi-related nerve. When you share a photo on iOS there’s an option to remove exif data—or at least the photo’s location—but there’s no way to always have it removed by default. Really annoying and easy to forget. /rant
