I understand that hotwire is already an established term but it has hacky connotations and hyper(textlanguage)wire sounds infinitely cooler.

To add to this; in the Netherlands where I’m from there’s more bikes than people. Out of all the people I know the only person that does not ride a bike is my middle age father who owns a motorcycle. Even my nearly 90 year old grandma uses

Important details are that this impacted local on-device photos only, and a device reset would make the photos inaccessible for future use because a reset creates new storage encryption keys.

Css scoping has been fixed for ages already by css modules, styled components, or/and (native) support for nested css declarations. If those all fail there’s namespace conventions like BEM. If your css is a mess in 2024 (2016 really) i

Pretty much all new car reviews are complaining about the built in infotainment, and it only gotten worse after manufacturers decided to jump on the all out touch screen bandwagon (to save a few bucks) but without Tesla’s generally alright

I much rather have car manufacturers creating ‘exclusive to their brand’ themes and skins for the CarPlay 2 dials than not having car play (2) at all. Car manufacturers have had decades to develop their software but almost all are difficult

I think the 256gb storage is an even bigger letdown, esp because small SSDs are slower and the swap writes will likely be focussed to a smaller area, increasing the degradation speed even further. All in all, 16gb/512 should have been

It must be explicit what part of the content is an advert because dressing adverts as organic content is seen as misleading.

I use 1blocker and ad blocking has been pretty much flawless. The native code precompiled manifest way of content filtering is more performant and efficient too.

Perhaps but on my phone I can zoom in and out real fast on a page of text without a single glitch or hiccup and there’s no way a >512px bitmap for every character displayed is used.

Did you read the article at all? At least 3 are planned, one of which by Epic who have been pushing for alternative app stores for years.

Unless the grace period is a year or more this is just another finger to apples customers and European legislation (which will likely receive a patch if Apple are too skimpy with the grace period duration).

MacBook has 100wh battery, iPhone has 12wh. Chrome is notoriously inefficient, easy 2x more battery drain over Safari.

PWA’s can run a ServiceWorker in the background too, I can imagine Apple does not want anyone to be able to run code they don’t control as a background task as this may negatively affect overall performance and battery life.

My local cinema actually allows this but the cart-session is tied to the user session so when you share it the page goes to readonly mode where only the time and chosen seats are visible.

That doesn’t make sense because there’s millions of reasons to update the url even when navigating sub sections of the page or to reflect some sort of state that needs to be persistent when refreshed/shared.

For all your examples I can think of a reason to update the url in some or most scenarios. It depends. New blog comment can be part of the url target with the comment id. Makes it easy to share and puts the scroll bar at the right position.

They way I see it relationships to the deleted record must always be nullified/marked deleted, because otherwise you get broken records referencing deletions. And relationships from a deleted record might as well persist because the fo

That makes absolute sense. The way it was overlooked by me is because a ‘bin’ is something you clear regularly, but deleted records will likely persist forever. That being said; I once helped out a friend who’s computer became slow to a cra

Would a safer method be to have a <entities>-deleted table and migrate a deleted record to that table when it’s ‘deleted’. I’m not versed in databases but I’d expect you can even set additional access rules to individual tables making

Google made a e2ee extension on top the standard that deviates from the RCS spec thus it might as well be considered another spec all-together as it’s no longer able to communicate with adopters of the plain RCS protocol in a meaningful way

The latest iOS allows more (all?) automations to run without user acknowledgement so I made one that fully disables my WiFi when I leave my home. This does not solve the entire problem of course, but at least alleviates some of it.

Google is doing the exact same with RCS that has their proprietary e2ee layer on top that no one is allowed to use besides Samsung and themselves. On top of that they’re acting like spoiled children used to getting their way, pointing finge

You’d think that AirPlay would be abstracted away by an OS API that does the local network discovery itself.
