ARM has both add-with-carry and add-without-carry instructions, a separate increment is not necessary. (I don't know much about AArch64, only ancient ARM2/3, but I expect they left this in).

I am very surprised that this is presented as something new. From the very beginning of ARM, all instructions have had a condition attached to them. Contrary to the article, it has absolutely nothing to do with making the processor more CIS

Your use of Tinyurl doesn't really shorten the URL. Please don't obfuscate unnecessarily.

Agriculture came pretty late in human development too. You sure we were unconscious before that, or even before language? Conscious - and intelligent - tool use has been observed at least in crows and apes.

I would classify your last example as intelligence, not consciousness. I think most people would agree that most animals, at the very least many mammals, have some form of consciousness. It may even be that our consciousness doesn't di

Why would that be obvious at all? It runs counter to all of my experience.

You don't have to go very far with extra checks and disincentives, as the recipient can also invalidate the token at the first sign of spam. SPF/DKIM or an equivalent can also help with sender authentication.

You're still running Zoom's or Google's code, which could do whatever it wants behind your back.

Not prosecuting it is a dangerous precedent. Especially now we have AI text generation, such actions should lead any company to be sued into bankruptcy, and jail time for its leaders.

That would not have helped you in the case described in the article.

I pay around 19EUR but get only 5GB data, and I'm fine with that. When in CH I buy an extra bundle, but even then the costs stay very far below a crazy 70EUR. Data is blocked when I haven't paid for roaming, so no risk there.

Because they do want to keep earning money from older people with such a card, and those are not as badly impacted by the book bans. Seems entirely reasonable to me.

I used a generic unit conversion app that has a specific function for F-to-C conversion. That takes a minute or so to start, enter the numbers, etc. I could have read tens of paragraphs of text in that time. I agree I'm being a bit har

No, it is very hard to convert. The US has about 4% of the world population. Adapt. It's not worth the communication problems.

No need to boil. 80 or 90 degrees is enough to kill germs nearly instantly, 70 degrees takes a little longer.

200F = 93.3C, 190F = 87.8C. Really, we're talking about boiling, why would one even consider using Fahrenheit?

Perl does add new features, but if your program has use v5.30; at the top, and a library has use v5.22; , or the other way round, it will work.

The thing you need to know is that it is the name of the Joy Division album with the iconic cover. I didn't know that until I read https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=35401185 which was posted a few hours earlier.
