Not at all - they know shit. Unfortunately "enterprise software companies" hire the lowest bidder in the lowest bidding country and they hire the lowest bidding staff. This is especially true of Microsoft who I've had the pleasure of dealin

Excuse the cynical POV here, but it's from a number of years of dealing with such things. The problems I find with enterprise software as a rule are it solves the above but fails at: 1) Realistic scaling. Just about every piece of enterpris

I reckon legislation will soon fall which makes these illegal unless you are law enforcement or military. If it makes either party potentially more accountable then it's going to cause problems. Great piece of kit though!

My 26ex320 got a software update last night. I reckon that it's a fix for this exploit. The annoying thing is that this update pops up and yet we can't get 4od un the UK still and Sony just don't seem to care about the users.

I'd ignore that entirely as well - if it's a network they are biased instantly. How to pick a phone: 1. Write down what you NEED, not want. 2. Find a phone that does it on gsmarena.com which has LONG term reviews and doesn't try and sell p

Apart from WP8 apps won't run on it, which most will evolve into and it won't do native C/C++. Instant market fragmentation.

Seriously don't buy one. I've literally just sold mine and went back to a basic phone as the battery life was crap, the mic doesn't work properly.

Well that's sabotaged Nokia and WP7.5 nicely. No one is going to buy a current handset with that on the way. Way to go microsoft! I genuinely think someone has a 90ft long crack pipe over at Redmond. They've made so many bad decisions latel

they're usually contractors these days to be honest. I always sit in the middle between humans and machines and am quite happy getting my hands dirty with both sides. Communication and management is part of the job.

I agree but both SE and Wikipedia suffer from moderators being picked based on karma. Karma is achievable easily despite any motives and personality traits which are bad. They should be picked by humans as they are a better and more objecti

to be honest in the UK at least they look pretty similar although usually assembled slightly wonky. Still taste as good as they look in the ads though. Despite all the bad press, McDonalds is great (well I like them anyway).

Yes this is getting annoying. I think when a site reaches critical mass, the pedants and moderati (play on illuminati) start screwing it up. Wikipedia is another fine example of this. I've stopped contributing to stack overflow now due to t

Slightly different view here. I think the nirvana of typing is hybrid static/dynamic and it hit us with visual basic 6. I don't think anyone really noticed it though. It supports traditional type checking by the compiler, runtime type infer

They get paid the same as junior programmers where I work. They are deemed as equal value to the company. To be 100% honest a good developer should be able to take on all three roles. PM and BA are skills which should be built in as well al

I just sold my Lumia 710 and replaced it with a 10 year old Nokia 3310. Looks like i picked the right time i.e. Before the value bombs. For ref it was sold because the battery life is abysmal, there is no upgrade path and the mic doesn't wo

The easiest way to kill this is to use stackoverflow jobs or emptylemon or something like that. The moment you involve humans in the process, you're going to get asshat middlemen. Other equally bad forms of asshat middlemen: car sales, esta

I bought one. To be honest, after the week I've had with it, I wish I hadn't now. Had to resort to fiddling with a micro SIM adapter and my emergency Nokia 3310 I've had for about 10 years two times this week because it went flat in about 6

Possibly true, but we have perl, python, ruby to deal with those cases which all embed regex in a structural way. Occasionally you can just convert it to lines first as well and problem solved.
