We could grow enough with no problems at all. The issue at the moment is we throw food away by the boatload. We also tend to grow epic amounts of money crops and livestock and nothing else. There's plenty of land to grow non hybrids worldwi

Lets also not forget that the heritage varieties by nature are not hybrid seeds which means that seed can be kept from the plants and planted the following year. If you take most commercial seed stock it's hybridised resulting in the seed s

Good article apart from one thing - avoid the hell out of session state. This becomes the dumping ground for all sorts of crap and will slowly knacker your app. You should only persist enough information to identify the user between request

i agree. I think We should create and use extensible languages (both written and spoken) that are better represented and understood both machine and human. Mathematics, English and most notations are too full of nuances to represent things

It's like a Gerber multi tool. You get half a knife, half a pair of pliers and half a screwdriver. One tool for all jobs never works.

I wouldn't ever mark up documents like that. JSON and XML are shitty languages for such things. So is html to be honest but we're stuck with it. Markdown, rst or something are better. As long as it has a simple deterministic terse grammar t

Yes definitely. Why does it sound like you think I'm insane? I'm sitting in front of a T61 at the moment at 1280x800 and I prefer it to my 2x 22" 1600x1200 screens in the office (one of which is permanently turned off). I have VS2010, SQL20

That's because the distro developers think they stink. Have a search around mailing lists on marc.info and you will see. Ubuntu represents a very politicised and marketed view of what Linux should look like. You should expect nothing more f

That's hilariously shitty. Although to be honest I doubt it's going to affect anyone as I reckon 99%+ are on mod_php.

I wrote an extensive C# version of this that runs as a service, includes a MIME parser, filter pipeline and WCF bridge (so you can recieve mail via a net.tcp). I will clean it up and chuck it on bitbucket.org some time this month. You just

Considering the local pubs around me (Wetherspoons I'm pointing to you) appears to be full of drunken old perverts staring at porn on their iPhones, I'm not sure this is such a good idea...
