I usually refer new users to this one page which shows that the extension can also be used in "allow-all/block-exceptionally" mode, which mode is less likely to break web pages (ABP, Ghostery, Disconnect etc. all work in such

Thanks for the nice words, it does help the morale. Regarding javascript execution there are two cases: External javascript: won't execute because the net request for the external resource is blocked. Inline javascript: won't ex

I wish I had EFF's clout behind my work too[1]. In the last few months, I have been completely dedicated to write an extension which completely informs the user about what a web page does, and gives the user full control over what we

I didn't think about trying this. With your example, the results appear to be all from the same web page, but that is an illusion, it's just the search engine returning first the results for which the letter case matches. On the t

That benchmark measures only the computation of the whole diagram -- which is the sole purpose of the library. The rendering, if any, is left to the caller after the diagram has been wholly computed, so there was no point for me to measure

Same there (try 10000 sites, click "Benchmark"): http://www.raymondhill.net/voronoi/rhill-voronoi-demo1.html The difference has narrowed though, FF used to be much, much slower than chromium.

I don't particularly need a regex course, but I have to say, this site is so nicely designed, so easy for the eye. A good way to practice regex is to use one of the many online regex tools to validate your understanding. My current fav

I wrote an extension (HTTP Switchboard) which can log and filter behind-the-scene requests, which also comprise net requests made by extensions. I suppose this could be used to validate that an extension connects to a remote server. In any

The most concise argument a user can bring to this "debate" is to simply block all of these trackers/analytics/etc.

And that's why it feels so good to block all hits to `google-analytics.com`. There is a choice of extensions that do the job. Sites which do not work because of that blocking are probably very rare.

This just shows that even when shielding successfully against all other known mean of tracking [1], ultimately fingerprinting still can accomplish something re. tracking. Of course if a user doesn't care about other means of tracking,
