I am tempted to make an allusion that involves us, the making of foie gras and Reddit's ad-tech supremacy. With Steve being the guy who nails the ducks to the wood, forces the funnel down their throat and. . . well ya, you get the poin

The year is 2030, Reddit is now on it's 38th iteration. Steve and team have been slaving away, year after year, trying to come up with ideas on how to make the loads quicker, memes funnier, all while also pumping in 2000 metric tonnes

It would seem so, but it is hard right now to parse what is fact and what is fiction so definitely look into it yourself. But I totally agree, pretty dim to think they can somehow talk their way out of this. People were upset before, the bl

I am waiting with great anticipation to see how they spin this in the AMA tomorrow. Anything short of Steve editing the posts himself and I will be disappointed /s. To the Reddit and Steve apologists, you will be on the wrong side of h

I personally have tons against the agency. The most morally confused people on the face of the earth. To each their own.

Did you listen to the same call? He immediately clarified the statement. And uh, I would be arrogant too if I was doing the job of an entire team of people who had the audacity to pretend otherwise. Pay respect to Steve? Jeez man, don'

I for one welcome all of these tech CEOs making utter fools of themselves for us all to watch. And welcome the paradigm shift as people start seeing the technocrats for what they are. Steve, you could have walked away from it all years ago.

This is certain. Can you imagine how embarrassing it must be? A solo dev did what you couldn't all because you were too busy force feeding everyone ads. I would love to know what these executives tell themselves to convince each other

Honestly this is the tipping point for me to just move on. Reddit is an ad-filled cesspool, with a morally bankrupt C-suite. Growing up I actually looked up to this guy. . . how pathetic and sad. Such a fall from grace, and for what?

It amazes me the lengths older generations will go to convince themselves the problems of this world are somehow the fault of their progeny when these poor kids are only just becoming adults. It is such a common, boring trope these days. Ho

I mean, there sure are a lot of mentally unstable people who actively choose to detach from reality. To some, living in a fantasy land is as simple as ignoring the truth around you.

This gave me a good chuckle. I remember at school once there was a shadowy entity that I came to understand was NSA recruiters (think big engineering school, big Military budget, not atypical for students to have high clearance). If you sig

Yes! I am a daily user plus the dev seems like a great guy(he did an awesome AMA back in the day). One of the few places I make it a point to whitelist my ad blocker. So glad to see this shout out.

Thank you for this! While yes, it is expensive and I do think a bit wild I would pay serious, serious money to migrate away from my home office. Ever since I began remote work I have been cooking up ways to code outside but the glare alone

These "ghost artists" sound verbatim is the issue I have. A Drake song recently went viral and had tons of hits only to turn out it was made with AI. Fans could not even tell the difference and I most certainly could not either.

Well, considering I am 008, my threat model is quite high indeed! But ya, I was being hyperbolic. And HN has provided plenty of worthwhile info on the topic of OpSec over the years, do not be quick to discount. I would be a fool to reveal t

I am wondering the same, considering the proliferation of AMD in the last few years I would be devastated to have to go back to Intel. Just when the Framework came out with their AMD versions too.
