You just gave me tired head. Unless you really want to deal with all this blitting stuff, I recommend that you look at making flash games. You get to deal with the more interesting problem (to me) of making a fun, playable game vs. dealing

I agree, if he'd done fanless or super small (which what he did is small, with the itx and crappy PSU).... He also must not have kids or a cat, since an open case like that certainly wouldn't fly!

so I'm confused. This is way more than a $200 PC given all the time and effort. Here's how I'd go about it -- either: a. go get a dell hot deal for $199 (they had a server a couple weeks ago for $199, no OS) or b. Fry's $59 mb/cpu specia

There is only one thing on the list that I take exception to: - build and release in release mode. I can't even begin to enumerate the number of times that having a line number (provided by a debug build with a .pdb file) would have saved h

Hmm... I flattened Vista off my wife's x61s this last week. Took a while to get everything working with XP (Lenovo's support/driver site puts the suck in sucktastic). I put Ubuntu on it (dual boot) and was up and running even installing al

I'm short on time, but I've lived in various south american countries that are all flirting with socialism. In most cases it has been met with open arms by the poor and screams from the rich. In the end, the poor are barely better off and

I certainly disagree. Just because you weren't born into money doesn't mean you can't get there. That's the beauty of the free market, you have the OPPORTUNITY to succeed and get ahead. If everyone and everything is the same, then why even

There was one in gentoo a while back with a -g option... It got removed from cp source since someone didn't like it. Man I'm a nerd.

I've been using linux off and on since 1995-1996 (gosh, has it been that long?). It's only been in the last couple years that I feel confortable enough to use it day to day as a primary OS (actually put it on my wife's laptop and she's fine

Request Invite requires a name with a space in it? I just put my first name in and got a generic error message. It looks like you're using Flex? How'd that work for you?

Yes, instead of prognosticating, do something. The domain and business experience are more important than the hacking stuff you learn (come on, you don't want to be a hacker in 10 years anyway, do you?)

Really a lot of my pain is the IDE (eclipe is a step back from something like VS.NET 2k5 with Resharper, come on ctrl-tab doesn't work!), but some of the things feel half baked (if you are doing "code behind" components, you have to name th

I've actually grown weary of the whole browser/css/javscript crap that I have to deal with to make things work... I've been playing with Flex lately. It's a step back in some ways, but it is nice in others. Feels more like thick client de

Ya... exactly what I was thinking... for what I need right now, I wouldn't travel to Austin or Houston (I'm in the Dallas area), but for other things (cars), I would want to know when a 68 corvette comes into Austin, Houston or Dallas.

What about when the boring current job pays 50%+ more than the possibly exciting job down the street? The grass is not always greener... (this coming from the guy that struggles to force himself to work 40/wk [and who's paid hourly])
