The nice thing about this is that it gives people who want to break into 'design' a place to get their first jobs perhaps, without having to cultivate a a flow of contacts. I imagine people who are already experienced designers will have a

I wonder whether Watson 'reads' the question or if the questions are fed to it directly as parameters, or if it has to 'listen' to the spoken words and start thinking about its response after that.

Its too bad the matching funds aren't available to the companies themselves and not just the investors. It would be great to be able to double your investment round with a government matching grant.

Another path that you can use if you are already at a big company is to try and distinguish yourself there and move up within that organization. Of course this depends on the people you are working with, but if you have a good manager and

I would love to know what the average startup is paying now in NYC v.s. what the average Wall Street Firm would pay for the same programmer.

My view is its similar to opening a laundromat across the street from an existing laundromat. Is it unethical? Wrong question. Would it piss you off if you owned the other laundromat? Yes. Golden Rule applies. On the internet any webs

Wow thats a great analogy. What if you had a nano-replicator? I guess at that point we would have to be nearing the end of scarcity, right? Because you'd only need 2 nano-replicators to turn dirt into just about anything. And I guess at

Yeah - most of the people pirate because its easy and relatively risk free. They would never think of 'pirating' a car. Who came up with the term pirating anyway? It adds a glamor that 'stealing' just doesn't have.

Unrelated - but I love the look and feel of your site. It doesn't feel like a web page at all - more like a document. Its pretty striking.

Outlawing prop-trading is probably a good idea. It will reduce conflicts of interest and prevent firms from trading ahead of their clients. I do think that these investment banks get a bad rap for just making the markets.

Fair enough downvoters - I can see why mine was a bad question. I actually just happened to have need for a software license for a potential software deal and was planning to ring up our lawyer, and just hadn't cognitively put 2+2 together

Hey - does anybody know if there are some free software license agreements on the web that are good? Looking for something that says basically Company X can use Product B for free for a certain period of time and won't be jerks about it.
