It is probably a typo and they should have wrote exhaust valve. It's thick enough to be an exhaust valve. The cylinder head has both an intake valve and exhaust valve on each cylinder. One to let in misted fuel and air (delivered via t

Or is your response annoying because it promotes your profile, which is tied to your own product, AlchemistCamp?... Inception!

#1 is my method too. I also take it as a sign learning the code base is going to be difficult if I have to ripgrep to find main because they couldn't put it in a cleanly named file like main.c =)

The fact it is 2022 and there are still Excel users who can't do pivot tables is a travesty. Meanwhile the rest of us have moved into Power Query, M-language, and Tables; leaving those who couldn't keep up even further behind.

HN shits on Dart and V extensively... And they are the only two languages I use daily. So even as a user it can be demoralizing!

I'm using V mostly for data science related applications (in production). Honestly my biggest fear is that this constant V backlash is going to do serious harm to the community and seriously impede development/adoption... I have

Sure, will do. However I can't help but feel a large majority of the posting on anything V is mostly flame war and personal attacks which is far more egregious than commenting on votes, and against the guidelines you linked.

Before using V I had a similar concern. However I then looked at Go and see it has 7.5k issues on GitHub. Granted much bigger user base = more stuff uncovered.... So for right or wrong, 7.5k issues in 100K stars versus 750 issues on 30k sta

If you look at the C that's generated using -keepc flag, I think you will be hard pressed to find any glaring inefficiencies to "hand coded C"; especially none of which GCC optimization wouldn't handle with -prod compile

Also view the Docs link just below the V logo, on the link you provided. It's true quite a bit of projects these days put sample code in the readme... But it probably isn't where code examples belong. Certainly wasn't the tre

V backer here. I've never ever felt remotely scammed or deceived. So people who bring up the scamming topic can continue to do so with the imaginary money they did not pledge/donate. Also I see the Patreon topic a lot - Patreon is

I think this is very good for legacy C projects specifically that are no longer being worked on, to breath new life into them and easier coding.

Just like work, and in life, you're going to come across a myriad of people who handle criticism in different ways. Be it for cultural differences, deductive reasoning differences, even down to childhood upbringing, you know the story.

It's great you're level headed on this. As an indirect measure, I've perused the Discords of competing languages and the vibe is a world apart in terms of maturity, age group, topics (bullying is very prevailing, talking po

Keyword: previous version. If you scroll down in thread, it's stated that all issues raised in the blog have been fixed. Side note: Github has an issues section on every project which is a better medium.

Yes! Thank you! I have noticed this account constantly trolling V posts as well, amongst a few other user accounts. I feel it's fine to express concerns in one or two posts, but to repeat them for years is wrong and bullying. Is there

The boots theory also falls flat in regards to style. I've never seen a single person wear boots older than maybe 10 years. Paying 3x-5x on anything with the "once a lifetime" ideology only works for timeless stuff like wrenc

Unsure how this is so upvoted... It pretty much goes against anything evangelized in Deep Work or Atomic Habits - must reads promoted by most on HN. Y'all need to revisit those books I think ;)

I'd actually like to see a service where you can hire a single person to answer all your questions. We have guitar and violin lessons where you go and practice then come back with questions - why not the same for programming languages?

I find reading old issues of Byte magazine from 1975 up to around 1989 to be very educational. There appears to be a complete archive here https://archive.org/details/Byte-Magazine-Complete .
