The aforementioned effect is termed "reciprocity failure".

When I did it the coach cars were mostly empty overnight. The seats are super wide and recline a lot. It's not like an economy airplane ticket.

It's very cheap to do in coach. I think I paid $300 or so. The key thing is to get off and spend some time at the major stops (Chicago, Denver, Salt Lake City).

I wouldn't exclude anything, but if the only examples of this are those kinds of highly immutable, mission critical software I think that would speak volumes about the practicality of maintaining a spec (the approach OP was pitching).

As in, a commercial software product where a specification is maintained in parallel with the actual product.

Generally speaking a stopped turbine's blades are mostly stalled and under much lower stress than when rotating (albeit in different direction). The angle of attack of the blades is designed for moving blades. The surprising result of

Those very water brakes seem ideal to prevent runaway turbine blades. Their braking power goes up very quickly as a function of impeller speed (ever use a rowing machine?).

Can you point to a successful commercial product built in this manner?

Liquidation preferences make it so that usually the large investment is a lot less risky than the smaller ones. It's also a lot less likely to have outsized returns (50x?), but at those levels of capital, almost no investment is able t

There are a bunch of invoicing/simple billing Stripe integrations with third parties. I don't know why they don't offer a baked-in product for this and/or promote their brand to consumers more.

It's quite hard to damage a dropout with the wheels mounted if not by way of a major crash. But the rear triangle of a bike remains pretty weak in shipping as the rear axle is not in place.

Most motorcycles aren't loud. I share your hate for those that are, though.
315.
by gomox 8y ago
You can't realistically compare the practicality of cars vs motorcycles in wet/icy weather. I say this as a cycling fan currently getting rid of his car. If it's raining, it's Uber time.

On the other hand, a finger smudge on your cell phone camera lens will destroy contrast and the resulting picture, especially is there is any degree of backlight in the image. Make sure you wipe the lens with your t-shirt every once in a wh

You, and most people on this site, also happen to have lived through what appears to be the golden age of the computer programmer.

CityMapper is too. Banning competitors seems like a recipe for antitrust lawsuits.
321.
by gomox 8y ago
That is quite simply wrong. I have been on the receiving end of this problem, and there is zero transparency about the reasons behind banning, zero warning or recourse, and of course the good old 180 day locking of funds which can kill any

That's a drastic oversimplification. Dosage amounts and patterns are wildly different. Ecig "juice" has many components that cigarettes don't.

> I'm pretty sure inhaling vaporized ecig juice is much better for people's health than cigarette smoke. I've seen this thinking many times in this thread. How is this so? Smoking seemed harmless in the 1950s as well.

For these industry-disruptor things you need some degree of support from the industry you're disrupting (i.e. you need to sell to utility companies that have strong business relationships with the large generation technology providers

Dry the meat with paper towels before. Use cast iron or carbon steel, get the empty pan ripping hot, pour some canola oil and it should start smoking. Put your meat in the pan. Dont touch it for a minute. Guaranteed sear.
