Alas, does not play nice with the tiling window manager I use ( https://github.com/ianyh/Amethyst ) - highly recommended to those who seek tiling WMs.

Made me wish for my trusty Atari ST GEM TOS again. And the excellent SM124 monitor. Probably pure nostalgia, but I did like the simpler and more monochrome UI back in the days...

... and yet: it's a reasonable thing to ask how much of a GDP should be spent on research funding. That the US will spend more than India (for now) isn't surprising.

I'm not sure all Google products use the same voice recognition tech. Almost sure that they're not. In the NLP realm for instance, Google translate is (or used to be) based on a much older statistical model rather than the hot dee

Some tasks (like finishing a paper for a prestigious conference) could be meaningfully improved ad infinitum, so people keep working until the last moment to show their best work.

It's the opposite of what I'd want. I'd like to have a universal subscription and pay maybe x*$100 a year to read all the content I want. The manager of the universal system would then divy up my money in some pro rata system

I found this course somewhat lacking in intuition building. It's also sad that we're still using trig tables (that's essentially what the nautical Alamanac is. It also has to be updated every year). I thought the aeronautical

Seems perfectly normal to make verbs into nouns. Exit. Seat. Skates. Sale. Shop. Some verbs stay the same, some change slightly. But it's well established some people have much stronger sensitivities, language wise. ;)

Not sure if this is a legitimate concern or a hit piece by Boeing. At least the nay sayers seem to get a lot of words in and the question on how safe the crew ejection system is does not get answered well.

I can highly recommend MIST: https://lotharek.pl/productdetail.php?id=97 Works like a charm and can run C64, VIC, Atari ST, various older computers like PET or TI99/4a or zx81/spectrum.

10km * 10km = 38 square miles, BTW In nevada, you have about 3600 sun hours per year, so about 40% of all hours. So ignoring transmission losses, "reverse fuel cell efficiency", wouldn't we expect an average of 64 MW from eac

I looked at that site, but the data here is hard to verify, and the methodology is a bit unclear. E.g., coal energy only has a coal material flow, the wind turbine only a steel material flow. I'm not even sure if that means that the tu
