It solves the problem for me, I guess. I won't be commenting anywhere you have to log in to facebook because I don't want them tracking me all over the web. While a facebook account gives some legitimacy, I also like sites where

I agree. I'm 50, and am in no way conceivably done living. Just the programming projects I want to do in the short term will take me a couple of decades to accomplish. If I knew I could stay at a reasonable level of health for anoth

I don't think it's necessarily anonymous free speech that is the problem. I hang out occasionally on Freenet, on FMS and Sone specifically. Freenet is very anonymous by design. It turns out it is a mostly pleasant and helpful c

I remember playing QTest with some friends and coworkers every day after 5pm at work. An absolute ton of fun. I remember on the (third, I think?) map you couldn't get out of the water except to go up the ramp into the courtyard. Sin

These names remind of the names of Ship Minds in an Iain M Banks Culture novel.

I use it. It's a nice place to follow news organizations and argue with complete strangers in the comment sections of the articles they post. Discussions seem to be less quarrelsome, YMMV. The communities are nice for following hobb

A lot of Geocities was archived. You can access one of them at reocities.com. There is also a 650+ GB torrent out there containing the archived sites. It's still a work in progress, apparently, but perusing the "neighborhoods&q

I remember the web before ads became so prolific, and before it became so commercial. There was still content, people still cared about topics and put up web pages devoted to them. Without ads, it would still make sense for an individual

I went through many iterations of trying to find a workout routine that I could stick with. In the end, I decided to focus on the journey and not the destination. I do a one weight training exercise every day, rotating through different e

When running Chrome, the CPU goes into the 15% to 20% range when running the mouse in circles over the chart on my Windows 7 box at work. When running Pale Moon, I get about 10% to 15%, even after allowing all javascript domains in NoScrip

I didn't bother. Once you're used to them, they don't really get in the way. I usually change key settings for games that use aswd to move around, since that's more of a pain.

That never became a problem for me. The worst was the up/down left/right keys in vim, but you just get used to the new ones. You're already changing the complete layout, which has totally messed up everything you type. I we

I would like to see the same thing for beef, eggs, milk, butter, and other dairy products specifically focused on "grass-fed" vs. "grain-fed". I've seen a handful of imported products that make this distinction, bu
