One more question, I read from your other replies below that there are 3 of you running this now. Does it take all 3 of you full time to run this? Or is it reasonable to operate solo?

This is probably a good place to ask as any; I might be interested myself (depending on the price point you're looking for), so I'm going to ask more questions: - What price point are you looking for? 1 year profit, 2 year profit,

If this is a project inside a big, established company, it should be relatively easy to move horizontally to a separate project (perhaps no longer as lead engineer). If it's a relatively small company, then it sounds like there's

Super cool. Is US Census data easy to work with as a developer? How much of your work was spent on parsing out the data to be a useful format?

Zoho is pretty much free for personal uses. They charge per user per month, but under 25 users is free, and if you're not a business you don't have that many users. I have numerous personal projects that are web sites/web app

To add to what others have said so far, I think the real case where this comes in useful is when a startup is failing and going down. A lot of times startups have good engineering teams but are shutting down for various reasons (most likely

Just wanted to make some suggestions for ideas and not meant to critique -- one can get a fairly good laptop for coding nowadays at a fairly low price; just don't stick with a Mac like what everyone thinks you have to. (which costs $10

A lot of my peers around my age (mid thirties) have been actively moving out of SF specifically. I think it might be a matter of targeting the right pool of candidates to look at.

I wouldn't be so quick to blame YC. YC actually encourages founders to be smart about their funding money and not spend a premium just to HQ in SF if at all possible. Problem is a lot of founders just feel so inclined to work in SF.

I hold what could be an unpopular opinion and what some might call irrelevant, but I think a big factor here is tech. To preface what I'm about to state, I work in tech myself and I know many of you are, and I'm not blaming tech f

I find it a bit odd that both you and the parent commenter (acemarke) seemed to have interpreted the post in a completely different tone than I did. I didn't find anything in the original blog post in the tone of a "complaint"

There's a lot of complaint about Google AMP and Facebook Instant Articles, e.g. walled garden, anti-open-web and whatnot. Here's something simpler from a non-developer, average-consumer point of view. I recently began taking BART

That's cool. Is there data for outside of San Francisco? For example, Brentwood? I am considering moving to Brentwood since Sonic offers fiber there. Would like to learn more about their coverage.

I actually have somewhat of an opposite opinion on this. As HN readers and being "in" the cutting edge front of tech, we know that things like this is possible (I first learned of this seeing Adobe demo it a while ago), but this i
