Please explain how OpenCL fits in with that idea. What Adobe probably means by "restricting tech" is that Apple does not allow alternative code interpreters on their device, as to not facilitate AppStore circumvention.

That's so cold. And un-inquisitive. That's like saying to new parents - "Wow, this kid you have for yourself, that's pretty cool; but really - could you not have wasted your time with that and build a business instead?"

Not being a native speaker this confused me for a moment there. I'd like to add to that that most of the world's programmers (and this article's potential audience) are not native to the English language. Don't make the additional effort

Why can't one strive for better? Given the reality of prevalent general ignorance why not embrace it and eradicate writing in schools, replacing it with touch-tying lessons?

AIM does just that, albeit they ping you with badges/notifications when you get a message, which wouldn't quite work with calls. But you could always call back, or be "away". Nothing is stopping Skype from making that happen.

Not directly, no. Since 1959 cars are going faster, there is more of them, and the bar for driving one is lower because of ubiquity and social expectation. So it's about the same. Just more cars, and more people driving them, so we see mo

Oh, I so have seen this Khalid type before. They are called "spammers". The guy has assembled a team of the blackhat-coder type and spammed the AppStore successfully with random crap for months , looking to cash in on the 6-to-9 percent s

Essentially asks "why isn't it everything for everyone?" Apple's OS/hardware isn't that either, they seem to be doing very good. Why do you want creative features in a consumerist OS? It seems to be a sort of a "TV 2.0", not a UNIX workst

So, you're saying that all of Internet's intelligible discussion is generated by less then that, right? Makes me wonder whether Internet in it's current state will hold up were we to dislodge with the general ignorance.

If you look at what's going on at Google and Mozilla you'll see how "HTML5" features might become adopted and standard way faster than what one might expect. Both of those see the Web as their business, and as such – their own to extend, pa

How about we imagine a future where all the orbital junk Earthlings created will start to go offline, and man-made meteorites become a problem to aircraft? That's more interesting to ponder, IMO.

How about Google's AppEngine? It scales quite nicely if you write your stuff in a non-braindead way. A public service like that is a perfect candidate for their architecture, I think.
